The Other Side

I was looking through my files and enjoying pictures from days gone by!  Aw!  I still have these Aussie slippers, but I really miss the brick red pants.  I wore them out.  I don't like the skinny-legged colored pants.  They make me look like Humpty Dumpty!  LOL!
I want to EAT baked goods, but I don't seem to want to BAKE them.  Isn't this ginger cookie beautiful? I made it a long time ago.  Sigh.  Our Christie is an excellent baker and we've been enjoying her chocolate chip cookies (the BEST!) and her snickerdoodles.  I must make the bowl of apples into a crisp.  I just don't do it, but I want to EAT crisp/crumble.
Please pray that James will take a bottle. The doctor recommended that they supplement his diet because he's active and slim.
Over a year ago, when we visited the Corrie ten Boom Museum (a highlight of my life) I took a photo of Corrie's tapestry.  Here's her poem that goes with it:

My life is but a weaving between my God and me,
I do not choose the colours, He works so steadily.
Oft times He weaves in sorrow, and I in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.

Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttle cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas, and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
AMEN!  Right?
That isn't my thumb.  We had the loveliest Dutch woman as our tour guide.  We were the only ones on the tour (a cancellation) and both Bill and I were so moved.

Take heart if your canvas is messy and disorganized, crazy and chaotic, discouraging and boring.  He sees the other side!  Yay!

That canvas is a wonderful reminder that we don't always see the right side of the picture ... but we will, in time!

That cookie looks good!

-giggles- Don't I know it! Skinny-legged pants make me look like Humpty Dumpty too!!!!

Annnnnnnd, I want baked goods. But don't want to bake them!!!!!

What is it, with this??? ,-)

As to James, is he happy with Mommy's milk? Satisfied, etc.? If he is, could it be that he is simply "built" slim and active? Just wondering...

I love that poem and the tapestry. A nice reminder that we don't see the whole picture.

It's so useful just to realize that there IS an other side to our lives! A side we do not see, of our very own lives, the life we think we know absolutely. I do hope there is an other side of my life that will look like something special, something very useful, instead of the plodding along, doing daily things, that I feel I always do. God knows.

I've decided to make cookies this evening, after reading Debbie's blog. Her choc chip cookie looked SO VERY delish, as soon as I saw it, I thought, "I must bake some." :)

I've always loved that poem. So true!
My daughter has tried nursing with both of her girls and had to supplement with bottles. She just doesn't make enough milk! She'll try again with babe #3. You just have to do what works, I guess. Praying for James!
I have to admit I bought some of that ready made cookie dough the other day. Gasp! I only want to make a few at a time, so it works well for me.
Oh yeah! I love comfy clothes and tend to wear the same thing over and over. Yoga pants and flannel shirts for winter. Aaahhh! (And fuzzy slippers!) Hugs to you, dear!

I am always sad when the clothes I loved are finally to worn out to wear.
I love that poem so much. Did I ever tell you when I was sitting in the audience and she said that poem and showed the back, and then as she finished she showed the front. I threw my hands up to my face. My Mom had died and my Dad had remarried, darkest time of my life. She said that poem and I remember praying that God would take my life because it was such a mess and make something of it.
Isn't that so good of God to not forget? I remember that every time I see that tapestry. When I saw it though she still had the hoop on it, she had to remove the hoop.
I do hope James took his bottle, I prayed he would.
I still love the bookmark. I am glad you went there. It makes me happy. Have a wonderful evening.

That looks like my favorite ginger cookie. I don't dare bake any!

I love your red pants, at least, what I can see of them ;-) I have some orange linen pants that are wearing out, and I am sad about it...

Nothing better than somethin' from the oven. Wasn't that a commercial tag line some time ago? Love the slippers. Rain today, they say. Have a good day, PomPom

I love that story/parable - it always seems to come to me at times in my own life when it matters - so thankyou! I like the thought that God is seeing the best side of me from above and not the mess underneath - although he knows it's there!

Such a great thought that he sees the other side. We all need that from time to time when we are tied up in knots. xx

For some reason I can't see half of the photos. Oh well, I like your words. Your ginger cookie looks just how I like them: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

I had a skinny baby whom I nursed for a year and fed him ALL THE TIME. He's still skinny and handsome and healthy.

Thanks for the reminder that God is looking at the top side of my tapestry. PTL!

Indeed a very useful reminder - it's good to se the photos of the embroidery too: they really bring the poem to life.

Your blog is always full of joy and the comforts of the rhythms of family life. Thank you so much, dear Pompom.
