Post Feast

I am now in the mood for yarn views.
The feasting is over.  Whew.  Yesterday, I woke up in the morning feeling very "cookish" and looking back, I had all the energy for preparing the feast that I needed.  It did run out though.  I always grow befuddled when almost everything is finished and the real orchestration of putting the food on the table commences.  At this point I could walk away from it all and dine on a peanut butter sandwich.  It's a good thing that there were a bunch of hungry loved ones around. It DID taste good and Bill did the dishes.  I bought the pies and they were NOT delicious.  The banana cream tasted like glue and the pumpkin looked rubbery (I didn't taste it).  The cherry was too sweet.  I'll bake next year.  I  am not cooking a turkey for Christmas.  I will choose quicker dishes for that holy day.  I DID bake chocolate chip cookies, but I used the break-and-bakes.  I am really becoming a "short-cut taker" in my old age.
Today I want toast and tea.  I'm tired from all that eating.
I have a few projects on the needles.  I'm making an apple (a red one knit with roving wool).  I am also making a cowl using a  bit of soft and hairy yarn.  I will go slow today, will you?

Lizzy is quite happy going slow.  She slept through A LOT of noise yesterday. She's pink and she's peaceful.
Right now I am going to fill my little brain (and heart) with words from my fat black bible.  I'm hungry for HIM.

"At this point I could walk away from it all and dine on a peanut butter sandwich." Yes, yes! That's exactly how I often feel after large cooking. Today I'm curled up in my old robe, contemplating yarn adventures. Like you, I'm about to delve into my Bible. Happy Day After!

Enjoy your peaceful time with your Bible and yarn. Hugs to you, xx

Hi MK! I'm happy because kindred spirits understand. Stay in the robe as long as possible.

I think you have earned some rest - I have been feeling love for yarn this week too and have just finished a knitty bangle. There is so much to do all of a sudden but what's left of today is for creative pursuits. I took my 18 year old to buy his first suit this morning - a magical motherly moment. Blessings - I need to open by good Book too it has been closed far too long. Betty x

I could have written this today. I feel exactly the same way. I do the panic thing when the food is almost ready to be put on the table.
It sounds like a good day. I love the colors and the baby is just precious. Have a nice day.

Hi Betty! I bet your son looks fine in his new suit! Yes, creative pursuits. That's a good day!

Ha ha ha! I KNOW! I have lost my baking finesse somehow! I can hardly find the flour!

I hope you have a very restful day, Kim! I'm moving toward the sofa right now!

Isn't it funny how shop bought pies can look so utterly delicious, and yet be rather icky. While home made pies (and cookies and cakes) can look a bit odd but can taste wonderful. I'm sure there's a lesson in that somewhere.
Belated Thanksgiving Blessings to You and all those you love and cherish!

Sweet precious baby girl! We are celebrating tomorrow, and I took a first time "long cut"...turkey brining. I hope it turns out edible. :)

Read your blog earlier this AM but just now getting back to comment on that sweet baby . Her ears are adorable! Glad you have the Feast over with and are catching up. The hub and I spent yesterday at home in peace and quiet and it was one of our best days ever!

Happy left overs!

Ha ha, Mouse! It's true! My pies always look wonky but taste delicious!

I hope it tastes delicious, Leslie!

Thank you for thinking our sweet Lizzy is wonderful! She is! I always notice babies' ears, too! I'm glad you had a happy Thanksgiving!

And I like too the spartan purity of your new background. It's very how I'm feeling about Winter. Everything clear and clean and taken right back to its core essence. Tea and toast= the perfect core essence food!

That beautiful baby is precious, pink and peaceful! What a little sweetheart. I'm not surprised all you ladies across that mighty big ocean (and a couple of small seas) which separate us, are burned out by all your Thanksgiving celebrations! Just goes to enforce what your British 'sisters' are facing in about a month's time!Toast and tea sounds so good to me! Have a good weekend Sweet Lady.x

The Great Feast takes a lot of energy, doesn't it? I've been enjoying the quiet after-time and the nice memories of the day. I'm feeling creative too and plan to do some reading and some embroidery. Love that lil Lizzy's pretty head.

Hello Pom Pom! Hope you have enjoyed your slow going day today. I love the yarns you are showing us, so soft and cozy looking. We had an easy dinner yesterday at a local restaurant so we were going slowly yesterday too. Today we are avoiding the Black Friday craziness and staying home. It's a nice sunny day, but it has warmed up again to 75. I wonder if Autumn will ever settle in here! Blessings to you!

Thank you, Mags! Yes, I am resisting the tendency to over drape the house with stuff, trying to cut down on that! We stayed at a house last weekend that was loaded down with 1980's dusty knick knacks and I came home and began removing dusty junk! So, thus the light blog look.

Hi Nana! Yes, we think we want to include all the trimmings and we have every intention (and lots of verve!) to do it all. When it's over, we can wait an entire year to do it again. It's ham for Christmas. Turkeys are demanding.

Pom Pom said...

Yes, I clicked the needles a bit today but I didn't get a nap yesterday, so today I dozed on the sofa. I'm glad your celebration was so lovely!

Pom Pom said...

Oh, good for you, Sara! I don't do Black Friday either. I hate waiting in lines. I'd rather "click" anyway! Tonight I'd like to go see Anna Karenina but I don't think I can get Bill to agree.

Pom, like Mags, I really like your new header and background...very restful. I'm knitting, need to start quilting and putting together throws but will never be ready for Christmas. That's okay, warmth is still in demand after December has come and gone.
I've never shopped on black Friday; I choose to keep craziness at a minimum in my life.

I am sure your family had a wonderful feast, bad pie and all as long as they were all together. Little Lizzie is so precious. Isn't it lovely to have a new baby in the family? I did take your advice and bought more storage for pIcasa. I really did ponder because it is now $2.49 a month, about $30 dollars a year. I just did not want to give up my blog, nor did I want to start a new one. I love my blog friends. Cheers, PomPom.

Hi BShell! It's nice that you popped by! Thank you! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving Day, too!

Pom Pom said...

Hi Thistle! You're smart not to let Dec. 25 become a deadline. Dead and line just don't match up to the heavenly host, the shepherds, the beautiful young mother gazing at our Savior. You are absolutely correct: warmth is still in demand after December has come and gone.

Cheers back to you, Ann! Yay for more space and boo for a rise in the cost. I love my blog friends, too! It's worth it! They are worth so much more than the cost of two pizzas or a pair of jeans. Thirty dollars is a small price to pay for such a precious connection. So, we pay. I have papers to grade today. I hope I can find my grading rhythm. We'll see!

I just want to stroke that darling little head..oh sweet fluffy hair..adorable! That picture of Lizzy looks just like a little Betsy Clarke picture...you know the ones I mean eh? I have recently affirmed myself amongst the ranks of short-cut-takers too Pom. I think that's why I like our little picnics so much because we can take simple food or short-cut things like fruit & cheese & tea & yet still have such fun. Bad pies are disappointing at any time , however. Love to you GK sct x0x0x
