Button Nose and Books

Hello from Miss Button Nose!  We went to a musical the other night. A small Christian theater company (child actors!) put on The Little Mermaid.  The children were such a amazing performers.  The young man who played Sebastian was INCREDIBLE!  I spoke with him after the show and told him, "You'll be on Broadway someday! You made us CRY!"  He was SO good.  The girls LOVED the show.  They did not wiggle or complain.  They love the mermaid!  It's always fun to hang around with grandchildren.  Yay!
We've already had a little snow here, but at the back of the garden yellow snapdragons are still growing!  They can symbolize the great sun of Colorado!  We have so many sunny days.  When you see those big snow dumps on the news you may think it snows all of the time in Denver.  It doesn't.  I'm praying for a few Snow Days (capitalized for emphasis) so I can have some cozy days off from school.  Smile.
I found one of my old college notebooks.  I think I've shown this on my blog before, but don't you love how leaves last forever?  I liked Grandma Moses then, too!  I have loved her work since I was a child.  My mama loves her, too.  My sisters do, too!
Our blog friends teach us about new things, don't they?  Mags, my dear Irish friend, told us about Toon Tellegen and I had to dash to Amazon and find a bit of him.  These books came yesterday and they are adorable! LOVE at first sight!
I dug out some of my "creative" books.  I forget about them!  I am going to savor the holiday season and create for the sake of creating.
I'm also going to grow my teacher skills a bit.  I have SO many good teacher books and I must make time to dream and plan (not just DO).

Last night I was watching the election returns and I looked at my knitting spread out on the ottoman.  I did not knit.  I like to knit but I have to be in the mood and knitting magazines put me in the mood. Are you like that?

We have parent/teacher conferences this week so Friday will hold lots of "across the table" talks with people who are blessed with eleven year olds.  I like it.  I do run out of words after a while because talking to so many people is intense.  Oh well.  The weekend is coming and November weekends are very nice weekends.  What will you do with your November weekends?

So much to read in this happy post! :) You know me... I can't stop knitting or crocheting and magazines always make me want to knit even more! I'm glad you had a lovely time at the musical, it sounds wonderful! :) xxx

Lovely that you are such a 'hands on' grandma! Everyone is into books right now in blogland - it must be the colder days. I am just teaching myself to knit - there are some good tutorials on u-tube. I like to have books out for inspiration and I love Country Living magazine - you could just step into the pictures on some of those pages and be completely lost the photography is so good. I hope we don't get snow days here as I don't want to fall over again! I am a very clumsy soul - my kids have already been discussing whether my winter boots are slip proof enough or not! Betty

Love your little "button nose." So glad you got to go to the play! Very nice with grandbabies. Relax, knit, and wait for snow days. I'm knitting too -- started my mother's Christmas shawl at last!

Oh, I love plays, especially children's plays! We're very blessed to have three theaters near us that put on wonderful plays several times a year. My husband and I rarely miss one.

Children keep up young, don't they? As always, I enjoyed your happy post. It feels like a visit back to my childhood when I come here. Thanks!

Button noses are the best!

I just taught myself to knit in the round! Huge for my procrastinating self. Not very well, mind you, but I did it and now I'm going to go buy MORE knitting needles because I am sure THOSE are the secret to it looking better, right??? haha

I hope you get some Snow Days, too!

How much are you loving Toon Tellegen? isn't it the perfect stuff to read ever ever ever? I love it. I really deep down adore and relish it. It makes my soul sing. It's like the perfect community. All gentle and tolerant and kind. With cake and parties. Sigh. In two weekends' time we are going to the country to stay with a minister friend who has just moved to her first full-charge. The plan is that I will help her make some Roman blinds, with my new-found expertise. This is, I fear, an ambitious plan! It is so fabulous to find theatre that is real theatre, but that is still very accessible to small minds. The first thing we took the boys to in the Opera House, the only thing to date, was George's Marvellous Medicine. They still talk about it- and compare it to the book when we re-read. Super!

First of all we will be having a cold storm!!! Yay! I hope to do cozy things in the house. I love that you took your little grands to see Little Mermaid, I bet that was so nice to watch their little eyes get big.
I love those books and the covers. I also like your old notebooks, very nice. On the magazines? I read diet books and magazines for that very reason. :) I do hope you get some Snow Days too.

I wish I wanted to knit all the time, Tina! Maybe my hands hurt more some days than others. I'm glad you knit so much because your finished pieces are so inspiring!

I'm sorry, TexWis. When I don't put word verification on, I get spammed by advertisers. I get tired of deleting all those comments and getting the bogus comments on my phone. I get rid of word verification every now and then to give my commenters a break. I know it's irritating.

Hi Betty! I love British Country Living. I save my copies so I can look at them over and over again. Good for you, teaching yourself to knit! No, no snow for you. No slipping. I'm clumsy, too.

Yay! I bet your mama will LOVE that shall, MK! Yes, the musical was so charming. We loved it so much!

Thank you, Sherry. Yes, I can tend to be quite childlike! Ha ha! I do like all things sweet and innocent.
Yes, children do keep us young at heart, for sure!

Way to go with the circular needles, Leslie! I think your knitting looks GREAT!

You will create great Roman shades for your friend! Real friends help each other make window coverings! Smile!
Yes, I am enjoying Toon's sweetness VERY much!

Hi Janette! Teacher conferences can be happy AND sad. I am praying for HAPPY! It's a long evening and a long day following that. I like parents but I get sort of tired of the sound of my voice. We'll pray for the best. Thank you for your kind words, kind friend.

Ha ha, Kim! Sounds like we both have pounds of diet books! I don't get rid of them because they represent a lot of my years! Thank you for wishing me Snow Days, sweet buddy of mine!

You have a busy week ending. Parent teacher conferences can be so exhausting. Better working with the children, I suppose. Good luck.

HI Libby Q! I forget to look at my books! Yes, the yellow snaps are such hardworking little flowers! They are leftovers from last year, too. They seeded themselves!

Beautiful button nose!!

I so look forward to our local children's performing group. We only just heard about them and they will perform something about pirates this year.

I love looking at all of your literature. Always tells a bit about what's important to us doesn't it?

Blessings, Debbie

True! Our book choices say a lot about us! (Nice to hear from you, good Debbie!)

The snapdragons, a beautiful smile, books, teapots and the thought of playing with yarn: all of this makes for one great blog post. Love the pictures as always.

Thank you, Bonnie! The weather reporters have not informed us of an upcoming storm. We do get some wonderful surprises now and then! I'm hoping!

Hi Gabli! Playing with yarn . . . yep! That's what I'd like to do today!

Miss Pom Pom you are a treasure and your posts always make me smile and feel like a child again. I love your incredible whimsy and fun personality. I must suggest that you look out for Martha Stewart Kids magazines. I used to collect them when my kiddlies were younger but I know they stopped coming out here to Ausralia years ago. Even buy some back issues on Ebay. They have the BEST crafts and things to do and I know that you will adore them too xo
