Oranges and Eggs

Happy New Year!  I found some bright happy photos with which to wish you a lovely 2017.
I chose the one above and the one below because my sister and I were Facebook chatting this morning and we decided oranges and eggs are good things to eat in January.  Do you think so?
Today it was 50 degrees.  Bill grilled bratwurst outside on the patio.  On Wednesday it's supposed to snow and be 26 degrees.  Colorado weather is like that.
Meanwhile, I'll dream of green grass and butterflies.  I DO like winter though.  I'm not wishing it away.
We can force bulbs.  Hyacinths smell pretty.

The lilacs will be worth waiting for and I find this time of year inspiring in regard to garden planning.  Do you?  We're going to order new dirt and I'm  thinking I would like flax, phlox, basket of gold, lots of poppies, more hollyhocks, and some new roses.
I washed our fleecy sheets and I can't wait to crawl into bed tonight.
Oh!  You might want to pop over to Susan Branch's blog and read about the convent she visited.  What a wonderful group of women!  They make beeswax candles among many other things.  I ordered some for candlelit winter evenings.  Oh, I'm making myself sort of sleepy.
And now the holidays are over.  Wait.  Soon it'll be Valentine's Day.  Heart shaped sugar cookies.  Boxes of chocolate.  Pink. Red. Yippee!
Today Kelli's family came for lunch and we mostly snuggled on the couch, tickled backs, played with hair, talked and laughed.  It was lovely.
I ordered some Jane Austen mitts (red) from my friend Danette's Etsy shop (FrontPorchKnits).  I think I'm going to have a manicure and choose red polish to match the lacy mitts.  I'll take a photo.  Danette has already sent them and I can't wait to try them on!
I'm going to make a video of my new swift as I wind yarn.  Now that the holiday busyness is past I can hunker down with yarn and needles.

Thank you for popping by to say hello.
