I'd like to look at Jesus closer, lean in and examine more of Him.
I'm a wee bit tired and a little unwell. I have a sore throat. Drat.
When I don't feel "tip top" I KNOW that rest and warmth are the best medicine.
When my soul is mulling ideas and plans around the soup pot of decisions, I know that rest in the Word of God and warmth under the covering of prayer is definitely the best remedy.
So as I pause, I'm going to try to avoid over-thinking and over-planning this holiday season. I like knowing that this is December 1st and there are many days of discovery ahead, days to meet the Savior, knee-to-knee, and moments to bow before Him. He is ever-gracious, allowing us to buzz around taking care of our temporary affairs and tending to cultural expectations and interests. We are silly and foolish, but AWE and WONDER wait. Oh, to see the Light and huddle in the stable where real is REAL and Heaven extends such a mysterious invitation.
I was looking at knitted Nativity scenes on Flickr (my friend Lynn is knitting one, too!) and in a lot of the photos there were many, many, many sheep. Some knitters made a big population of sheep to go with their holy families. I like thinking about us, a bunch of fuzzy sheep, crowding in, trying to get as close as we can to the Savior.
