Little Thoughts

I've been listening to Christmas music via Pandora this morning.  It really IS cheery, even though I'm not at all ready for the other Christmas hoopla just yet.  I am looking forward to the pine smell and the candles.  Christmas tea, too.  Just now, I'm happy about the leaves and their showy display of color.  I have been very thankful that I don't crave pumpkin desserts.  I'm still waiting for some apple crisp (which is the same as apple crumble) and I thank Aslaug for the fantastic recipe and instructions.  Jody mentioned Susan Branch's good recipe for apple and cranberry crisp.  I'll try that, too.
Now is when the flowers are found inside instead of outside.  Bill is busy tidying our gardens.  We have sticks and stalks pointing every which way!
One of my sweet blog friends, Catherine from Angel in the Garden, is an absolute expert at finding fabrics.  Wouldn't it be fun to design fabrics?  Even though I am not a skilled quilter, I DO love to look at fabrics.  When I was a girl, my mother took us to the fabric store often.  Now the "craft" stores have a section of fabric but back in my day, there were BIG stores full of fabric bolts.  Those were the good old days.
Do you like this pipe smoking bunny?  I think it's a Garth Williams.  Are you a rabbit lover?  I certainly am.  The other day Kelli and I were at Target and we came upon grown up size footed pajamas.  Even though I've heard mamas say that they would like a a big zippered sleeper like the ones their babies wear, the variety of "sleepers" on the rack looked a little restricted and HOT.  Well, Kelli thought it would be funny to see how Bryan would respond if she came out of the closet clad in a big pink bunny sleeper.  I'll let you know what he says, I don't think she's tried it yet.
Aw, look at my sweet April, our daughter in law (LOVE!) in her knitted wig.  Don't you love it?  Yes, it's almost Harvest Festival time again.  Doesn't she glow?  Pretty!
Do you love Janet Ahlberg's illustrations as much as I do? I thought I'd show you a few.  My favorites are The Jolly Postman and Each Peach Pear Plum.
Wouldn't you like to give this granny a smooch on her rosy pink cheek?

I love this illustration.  Tired dad and a ginger-haired girl bringing tea.  I hope someone brings you a cuppa today.  If I drink a cup of tea at lunchtime, I'll think of you.
I hope we all soak up October and feel blessed to be alive.  I wish you many special people-to-people moments today.
