Warm Golden Days and Nature Journals

Hello October people!  We had that snow day and our power was out for 24 hours.  We were cold and really I didn't know what to do with myself but sit by the window with Tim and knit.  We did go to Jeff and Christie's for two meals and phone charges. So thankful.

James and Noah are enjoying fall!  The temps have been perfect!  Warm and bright!

Christie took the cute pictures of the little darlings.

When it was so cold (for one day) I wore my Norwegian sweater and it really kept me very warm.
I wore my mitts that Danette from Front Porch Knits made!  I love them again this year.
Little cuddle bug thinks the nighttime temperatures are conducive to under-the-covers snuggles.
Last week little Plum Cake and I had a coffee break (fika) at Kneader's.

Noah is officially a member of the ice cream cone club.

As you can see our weather is funny.  James like to go shirtless (Incredible Hulk) and it has been warm enough to do so.

I wish this book wasn't so heavy because I really want to read it in bed.
I'm trying for a finish by Friday, but I don't think I'll make it.  I was bored with the color of this shawl so I spiced it up a bit, maybe too much.

I decided I should use the bunny dishes.  Aren't they cute?

As you can see, the flowers are gone.  Sadness.

On Monday I met a friend at the Jesuit retreat center.  Gorgeous.

I rearranged the living room.  You know how that is?  You shove things around and find lots of dust bunnies and then the baseboards need a clean . . .
This one is a little perturbed that furniture isn't where it was before but it does give him a better view of the birds at the bird feeder.  Well, at least he has a softer seat.
I finally got in to the hairdresser and got my stringy hair cut.  Sorry, I cannot help myself and always make goofy faces.

Another cute photo from Christie. LOOK!  Shoes!

So finally . . . my nature journal.  I do not know what I have been busy doing (besides knitting) but I haven't had a lot of "I wonder what I should do now" time lately.

Maybe I've just been looking out the window like Tim.

Here are a few little excerpts from this helpful book.  It's extensive and I think I should attend to it a little bit more.

Here are some links to the nature journal bloggers:
Annie at Nana Go Go (she's not nature journaling but she is thinking about autumn and features an adorable Jane Austen knitting book!)
I have not started sewing because I was waiting for my tissue to make my own pattern.  It came!  Soon, the sewing adventures!
Take care, glowing person, and thank you very much for popping in and viewing SO many photos!

So sorry you lost power...but glad you had someplace to go eat and charge things.

Those pictures of the kids are all just adorable....from snowman to Mr. Half-naked -gotta love weather like that.

Your nature journal is great. I should do something like that if I could ever find the time.

Hope you have a great mid-week day- xo Diana

I've got lots of 'what shall I do with myself' time this week since I'm on holiday until next Monday! Squee!!It's filling up quickly! No princesses for me this week because they are on school hols and are away with their Granny and Mummy. I did have the eldest at the weekend though, for a sleepover which was heavenly. Just the two of us on the sofa on Saturday night watching 'Strictly Come Dancing' and eating our popcorn! Loving your new 'do'. Isn't it so liberating to get rid of all that 'string'??!!Thank you for mentioning me on the Journalling trail. I wish I were as arty as all you talented ladies with paints and colouring pencils. Have the rest of a great week and glad you're feeling better now and that your power outage was only for a very short time. xxx

Wow you pack a lot into a post! : )
Snow already for you! None here yet. I'm glad because it has been great weather for building a house!!
Love all your pictures. Beautiful fall colors.
Your hair looks nice and such a pretty color. : )

So much to comment on! First, your hair is so cute -- I LOVE your color. Not many people get to have truly white hair, and it's so pretty. Adam's so scared his will just be steely gray, which he would not prefer.
Your sweater is very nice.
I can't believe that James is now so big. I remember when he was Noah's size! So fast!
You were snowbound! I wish for that (for a day or less, no hardships), but alas we only get dustings. And a snowman too!
That bunny cup - I think I found one at the thrift store very similar. Royal Doulton? Very cute. I'm saving up things like for my grands when they come.
Love to you, Pom!

Love all the pictures of the little ones - they are priceless. The trees are beautiful and so colorful. Of Tim - he is so cute and it shows that he loves you very much. I would like to do a journal, but honestly, I don't know where my time goes to. I do know that it take a lot longer to do things than it used to.

Thanks so much for sharing. Where do you live at? Wish we would get some cooler weather - high 90's and even 100 last week. UGH.

Hugs,
Mary

Wow, I can't believe that you had snow already and the yellow leaves are still on the tree. I love the snow man.
You always pack a lot into your post. The grandkids are wonderful.

I am confused...what kind of weather are you having? LOL Sorry you lost power, when we do around these parts, I can tell you, I would be a lousy pioneer...I do not like to rough it. LOL The little ones are adorable as is the cat :):) Your hair cut is cute and so is the funny face. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
p.s. the little video made me smile.

Always fun and always happy. Tim does look very unhappy for a cat with his chair moved. So funny. I am always so happy to pop in and see what you have been doing. Your power was off 24 hours??? Oh gosh, I didn't know it was off so long.
I love your hair. :)

Happy colorful days in your world, Pom. The blue skies in your leaf and tree photos are stunning. All that color must ease the loss of the flowers a wee bit! Love your journal page. It is so you!

I try to gather my comments as I read through your posts, always, but they fly like leaves in Autumn because the gusts of your words are so many and so full and so glorious! I love everything! But especially may I love the mugs still hanging on the porch. Sigh for the porch. Sigh for pumpkins and toffee apples and warm jumpers. I will buy pumpkins this weekend. (A Jane Austen knitting book...) Snow and sun? I think we would also love Colorado!

First of all, you are the cutest. I know what you mean, taking a picture of yourself can be a little awkward but you managed fine and you look great with your new cut. Danette makes the pretties things. I think it's great you have a pair of her hand warmers. The weather is pretty much the same here. Cool in the mornings and evenings and warm in the afternoons. Wishing you a relaxing weekend.

Beautiful photos, my friend. You are pretty and I love your haircut. I am glad to see the photo with the snow! It is the beginning of autumn in Greece and we still have sunny days! Kisses!!!

Happy Fall to you too! Colorado weather is sooooo strange sometimes. But I am glad it did not stay and you got back to Fall. Love the pics. Your new haircut is cute! And I too like to make faces. Hard to be serious isn't it? LOL Have a great weekend! :) Kit

That video is funny- I love the fact that TIM DOES NOT MOVE A MUSCLE! Sums him up really! Lovely to see my favorite boys playing! I love the buried in the leaves one!
Your journal is lovely!

It is always a delight to visit your beautiful world and look at your sweet photos. Love your new hair-do, so very chic. LOVE the photo of Noah in the leaves, so very sweet. Moving furniture around is almost as good as a holiday. =) I would love to sit in your family room and be hugged by your daily life. Your journal is beautifully whimsical. Snow?? Really?? Oh my, I don't think I could cope with it that early......actually I don't think I could cope with Ol' Man's frigid outpourings at all. Though, mind you, it would be beautiful, this Winter wonderland that you up there always seem to experience.

There is so much to love here I don't know where to begin. Well, not loving the snow, but the rest of it is A-OK and it looks like you even managed to make that fun. Love the knitting and your art and drawing, wonderful family moments and cute haircut too! I wish mine would straighten flat -- even now and then! You are having a most splendid fall!

Your hair cut is so pretty! You are such a cutie pie! The grandkids are cuties like Granny. I like your nature journal --it's fun to see things that are popping up where you are. The Jesuit retreat is beautiful!
Happy Fall!!

Always love to see your photos! My daughter lives in your state and she has been posting some lovely photos of the colors. They're not that pretty here in TN yet. I love your hair cut. I wish my hair was your color and not that salt and pepper look.

Loved the video! :D
You really DO have changeable weather! We haven't had any snow yet up here in northern Minnesota, though there are rumors we might on Friday.
I love looking at your photos! That's your real journal IMHO.
I really like to watch YouTube videos of other people making journals and filling them with stuff, but I really need to have a definite theme. I'm beginning a book to put my ideas in for the small house my son-in-law will build me "someday". That will be fun.
Thanks for another inspirational post!

Glad your power came back on after 24 hours, although it probably seemed like an eternity! Sweet Timothy, what a fun knitting companion! And oh my, all that snow, and then back to warm temps, my goodness, such crazy weather! Glad you survived, and I love your warm Norwegian sweater! Sweet pictures of you getting your hair cut, and all the darling faces of your grandkids, so precious to enjoy! I cannot draw at all, so a nature journal wouldn't be for me, but I will enjoy looking at yours when you share :) Hugs to you today :)
