Cuddle Bug and Journals

Have you had a good nap lately?  Tim will show you how it's done.  Thank you for bearing with all my adorable kitty photos!  🙂

Can you believe how pink this zinnia is?
The zucchini leaves are ready for fall.

Look at my pretty mama.  She went to her 70th high school class reunion yesterday.

I'm not sure if I showed you my Jane Austen festival journal.  I'm going to keep writing in it, adding prints and drawings and thoughts about the books and films.

I get on plant eating kicks and I'm on one now.  Plants are filling and make us strong, right?

My bag'o wildflower seeds keeps producing.  So pretty!

When Jeff moved out of the house quite a few years ago, he left this fancy gadget 😄!  Fresh squeezed orange juice tasted like sunshine this morning.
I went out to pick squash this morning and found one monster zuc.  How did that happen?  Zucchini bread/cupcakes/something coming right up.
Little Plum Cake went to her first day of preschool today!

I thought this photo my sister took was so cute!  She and her hubby bought shoes in the color of the university we love.  WSU COUGS!  I love it!

My friend Marcie from The Quiet Country House and I are beginning nature journals on the first day of fall.  If you'd like to join in pop over to Marcie's blog.  I made my journal yesterday.  I am going to divide my pages into squares so I can draw little pictures (and because a page for every day would be unrealistic for me).  I put a pocket in for leaves.

I've been reading Thoreau's essay titled "Walking" for inspiration.

Time for tea.  I'll turn the kettle on.  One lump or two?

Wow! 70th high school reunion. Your mama looks fabulous.
My class is planning our 50th for next year, yikes.
Little Plum Cake looks so sweet for her first day of preschool!
About the tennies...we have 3 UW Husky graduates in our household. :)
Your journals are inspiring!

I cannot believe your mom is 70 years out of high school. She looks vital and beautiful!

I am so glad to get glimpses of your journal-to-be. I am still planning mine in my mind! lol. I like your idea of little squares. I saw some cute examples with little squares on Pinterest.

It is cool and rainy here today. Definitely feeling much more like Autumn than the end of August. I do want to savor summer's end, and have a couple more light summer reads, maybe an afternoon at the beach, etc. but these fall-like days persist in my neck of the woods!

He makes taking a nap an art!!
Once in a while I see a huge zucchini like that too. It is easy to miss in all those huge leaves.
Always a pleasure to visit you. : )

When our zucchini/courgettes turn large, we call them marrows. I think your kitty-cat has napping down to a fine art!! Our little-est started nursery school today. I love your Jane Austen art. You're a very clever PomPom! I can't even draw a tree!!I love that your Mum still goes to her school reunions and her glasses are so trendy. I had to choose new specs yesterday but I got totally overwhelmed by the choices and in the end may have chosen unwisely. We shall see.

That Timothy sure does know how to take a nap! Your mom doesn't look a day over 70, how can it be that she graduated 70 years ago! Your Plum Cake is so adorable! Does she like going to school? I take my tea black (plain?) thank you!

I agree - how can she possibly be ready for a 70th reunion - lovely! Never apologize for cat photos! And no lumps for me, just plain, maybe with a splash of milk.

I love how Timothy has his back legs sticking up in the air, very casual. Your mum looks a lovely lady xx

You DO have a pretty mom!
That Tim really does know how to take a good nap. Funny fella.
I love the sneaker photo!! And the team colors.
I'm eating veggies too. Lots and lots from the garden. Tonight we had broccoli, carrots, and onions from the garden. YUM!

I love your nature notebook idea. I used to keep one faithfully, but have slacked off. Maybe I'll join you.

What a nice visit this morning. I always love an early morning visit with you. This seems the only time I am on the computer now.
I survived yesterday as did the chickens. 112 was just crazy.
So seeing all of your lovely photos make me happy as does your journals. I love them. Its so nice you still have your lovely Mom.
Tim is a funny kitty. We had thunder and lighting and rain this morning so my kitties are all hiding under beds. Have a delightful day!

You can probably get two or three zucchini loaves out of the giant zucchini. I love your sketches in your Jane Austin journal. That's such a neat idea.

Great post and I like your journal. I have started them and then life gets in the way. Maybe I will start one.

Timmy sure loves to take a nap. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do the same thing. Every time I lay down to take a nap the darn robo callers start and I can't sleep.

WOW the zuc's look terrific and I can just taste the bread, yum. I am so ready for pumpkin bread.

Have a great weekend.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Pom Pom, I read this post yesterday and was just going to comment when someone called for me and of course I forgot to come back. I'm getting quite forgetful it seems.
Your Nature Journal sounds like a great idea. I;m going to think about maybe doing likewise. I hope you're enjoying these last bits of August.

Cute kitty. Great shoes.

Is there anything more smile-making than watching a happy cat sleep? Sometimes I think I could watch Lizzie do that all day!

Ah, Zucchini! I had the best lemon zucchini bread the other day -- so good, I had to go out and buy some so I could bake! Love that fall baking. Smells so good, warms the house. Life is so good! (Oh, and I love your journals!)

Potok must have been listening to you when he said that!

I hope you will make that Rosemary Lemon Zucchini Bread that Jody posted a recipe for recently, so I can think about it vicariously some more. I don't have any zucchini in my garden nor do I have a friend offering me any! I even bought some at the store the other day... but it's not as good as small fresh squashes.

Oh, Pom! WHY is it that we seem to love the same things? I'm over the moon excited about making a nature journal! I will pop over to your friend's blog and dive in. Adam makes all his little homemade books, so I've already selected two of them in autumnal colors. He will make a new fallish cover and put pockets and such in it, as you said, for leaves, etc. I am so excited about this idea! Thanks ever so much for letting us know!
Also, I've been meaning to ask ... where is your blog banner photo? You have nothing up there with your pondering words!

I just love your kitty pics. He is very photogenic! :) Tell your Mom I love her hairstyle. I wish I could pull that off and look as lovely as she. Your idea of an Autumn journal is great. It is looking already wonderful. Have a lovely weekend! Kit

I'm thinking that Timothy is pretty low-maintenance, lol.
Your mama is looking good!
There always seems to be one monster zuc that manages to hide away and avoid discovery, right?
Jane Austen and journals are a great thing! How do you keep the leaves from turning brown? I haven't mastered that yet.
My Hazel and Audrey start school Tuesday.
I love your tea quotes and Chaim Potok!
I'm into veggies right now, too, and spending some time with my boy. :)

I'm sorry that I'm so out of the loop- did you go to a Jane Austen festival? How wonderful! If you did, I assume you went as appropriately dressed as that sartorially wise grand-daughter above! I've just walked over from MK's, where she is also autumn journalling. I was talking after church today to a friend, and we decided we would get together soon for an hour or so of cutting and pasting and journalling and hot chocolate. Then another friend came along and we discovered that she once spent a year in Uganda with Tear Fund, so she's coming to tell us all about that. So our worlds grow. Let's go on an autumn walk soon together- with Lisa, and anyone else who wants to come too xx

Morning PP, lovely to catch up with you once again after my month long break from blogging. Great photo of your Mum, did she enjoy the reunion? Sweet photos of your cat napping and I love the quilt she's snuggling on.
I know from experience that you have to watch those crazy courgettes/zucchinis if you turn your back on them for a second you end up with a marrow like the one you found!
Have a great healthy week eating your veggies, all the best
Maggie

Your mum looks vibrant and fun, she has presence. I like the journal idea, maybe I will join in but not every day! The swimming pool is exciting, we dont have them in homes here, you go to the public pool or gym where its heated. I read about a lady in the uk though who did swim in her own pool every day of the year
