Furry Houseguest

Hello!  Here is a photo of our new houseguest!  Our Jenny and her Scott are selling their house so George is staying with us for a while!  Yay!  Kitty love!  So far he is hiding in the basement.  I put cat treats in his food bowl and I took a nap down there today because I'm trying to get him to love me.  So far, not so much.  I ordered Knitting for Kitties so I can knit him a few toys.

Don't be mad at me for saying, "I am very tired of cucumbers."  This is the second pickling session.  I gave a full bucket of cukes to my neighbor today.

Christie and James rode along to the airport with me so they could also visit with April and the kids.  Bill and Brad arrived home from the Philippines a bit early so our hurried lunch was a little nutty.   Fun, though!
I decided that I should finish a sock I started YEARS ago before casting on more.  This is wool that Bill brought back from New Zealand a long time ago.  The needles are too big but the sock is turning out VERY thick and cozy.  I'm learning more and more about how socks work.  You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
Here is the cucumber picker!  He loved tossing them in the bucket!

Bill has a bit of a bug (probably from unfamiliar food and whatnot) and I am tired, too.  We have our oldest grand coming tomorrow.  I am so excited to talk to her for three days straight.  FUN!
Even though it's hot outside, the nights seem cooler.  I think it's okay to say that I am excited for fall, my favorite season.
Bill has not yet lifted Sunshine from her hooks on the garage ceiling.  Grrrrrr.  Maybe tomorrow.
God be with you, kind reader.

What a gracious mom and grandmother you are. You care for your grands and the furries. Sorry about the bug and hope it resolves itself soon. Happy weekend to you...

I loved your pictures. Aren't cats just too crazy at times. LOL I call my daughter crazy cat lady...she has about 3, 4, or is it 5. LOL. You know I truly admire people who can things from the garden, my son in law loves to make pickles. My Ted hate cucks , but totally love all pickles.Wishing you a great evening and beautiful Sunday. xoxo, Susie

I love your visiting kitty. Have fun. I love all of your pictures. I am so glad you get to visit with your oldest grand daughter for three days. I do hope you get Sunshine down and get to ride around on her.
I just love your cucumber helper.
Wow you have made a lot of pickles! I hope you all feel chipper tomorrow. I am looking forward to fall very much too.

Oh little George. I'm sure he'll soon grow to love you! I have the same problem with courgettes. Kind people keep giving them to me! I like them but not all the time and everyday! I've started a Pinterest board with ideas of what to do with them! X

fun! be easy with yourself and your Bill. You all do so much and August is a really tiring time; rest is important too.

Yippee a kitty is in your house! now you just have to get him to come out and make friends... can you get dried catnip? we get it here in pet shops and herbal shops, some toys have it inside too - this is a must because every cat knows that people with catnip are to be loved and adored. Do get some! Hope you both feel better soon and have lots of magic moments with your oldest grand. Betty x

Pickles! You won't be tired of them when January rolls around.

James is darling with his little gloves on.

The pickles look wonderful. I have been making big half gallon jars of refrigerator pickles throughout cucumber season. I need a cute little helper to keep up with picking those things! lol

I have a friend who is going to help me relearn to knit this winter. I'm excited!

Have a beautiful week ahead. Are you strolling today?

Pickles last a long time so you'll have enough for months to come. I hope your new house guest settles in more so he can enjoy the kitty toys you are going to knit.

I'm too am getting sick of cucumbers! : ) I planted way too many plants! I can't even give them away anymore. : )
I gave up trying to knit socks. I just can't get the hang of using DPN's.
That sock looks so comfortable and soft. Good for those cold winter days coming along soon.

James is a great cuke picker. I hope Kitty will become more at ease soon. Probably doesn't understand what is happening.

Enjoy time with your granddaughter and have a great week.

Sweet kitty! We were a bit overrun with cucs too. Would've liked more squash, strangely enough. I also have a pair of socks I need to finish from years ago! Argh!
