Summer Girls

Bill and I had lots of fun with Samantha Rose and Plum Cake this week.  Their parents went to Vail to celebrate their anniversary.  We made pom poms!  I still need some practice but the plastic pom pom maker is a keeper.
Plum still likes to play in the paddling pool.
 Our cucumbers are growing!
We painted shells (you can buy shells at the fabric store!)

 They were good little eaters!
We played at the park!

We outfitted them both for ballet class!  Sam likes to try on my old toe shoes.  When I was in the sixth or seventh grade I took toe lessons so I have tiny little toe shoes.  The lessons did not yield a graceful ballerina so I resorted to jazz and tap.
They are becoming excellent cookie bakers.
 Glue is fun!
Our Kelli cannot resist puppies.  This is Otis, her new dog.  He is very sweet.
James likes to play with the big girls.
My nice neighbors invited me to pick some of their cherries.  Aren't they beautiful?

We really don't want to eat pie.  I think I'll just cook them on the stove and eat them.  They are very sour.
I'm kind of tired and I think I'll spend the rest of the day reading.
I like the lazy days of summer.
What's up with you?

You are such a wonderful grandmother. The children always look so happy when they're with you and you sound so joyful about having them. My daughter also takes ballet. She started at three and is now going into her fifth year. She loves it so much. You reminded me that she will need a new leotard and slippers before school starts; I will put it on my ever-growing list. :)

Kelli will be in love forever with her new dog. Border Collie's are a breed all to themselves. They are very OCD though and like their schedules.
They are very smart. I love all of the really fun things you did with the girls. It looks like it was so much fun.
The cherries are so pretty.
I like your posts they make me happy.

Those sweet girls!! It looks like fun spending time with Granny.

Border Collie dogs are just the best. They are so good with kids and will herd them and any other human or animal that will cooperate.

Hoping you had a restful day after caring for your Littles.

Always seeking out those lazy days! It is so hot and humid that everyone of us is feeling lazy, despite our usual inclinations. lol

Love the color and the fun and the home-i-ness of these photos.

Those red cherries look so good but then I saw you said they were sour and I changed my mind. I bought a 20 lb box of very sweet cherries today. Tomorrow I'll freeze some and we'll feast on the rest.
Those little girls are such a delight but I see where now you need a nice long rest! And absolutely no housework.

What sweet photos! When I was the age of your ballerina days, I took lessons as well. I used to have the pink tu-tu that I wore in the recital but not any longer. Never got to the toe lessons. How pretty and dainty your toe shoes are! The girls looked like they were having a wonderful time! I do like cherries and yours look yummy. They are on sale in the grocery stores right now and very sweet. Have a great day.

Good to hear that you at least have a few "lazy" moments to enjoy reading. Something about your post reminded me of the fun of being at my grandma's house in the summertime long ago!

such cute kiddos! And such a lovely garden. I will be glad when it cools off here and we can actually go outside! Plus, there is West Nile in the area and that is not good! October can't come soon enough.

I've probably said it before but I'll say it again...You are great grandparents and you are making so many wonderful memories for your grands! It's time for me to find a good book that will hold my attention for a little relaxation. Have a wonderful weekend!

You do the best things with those little ones. I love it all!
And they get more beautiful by the day.
When will James be a big brother?

Looks as if you had a wonderful time with those precious little ones and you kept them quite busy.
My husband and I will be having our oldest three grandsons for the next few weeks, one at a time as they enjoy coming to Pa and Gamma's one on one.
Those cherries look beautiful! I took my mother on a drive this week to Paonia to get our fix of cherries. I like to buy the 8 pound tub of tart cherries for baking. I will make up small cherry pies for my mother to take with her in the freezer for the winter months while she is in Arizona.
Your garden looks beautiful. :)

Have a beautiful and blessed weekend~~

Such a busy weekend. No wonder you're tired. Be true same for me after this week is over. Visitors from NZ, including One year old twins and a three year old. I'll have to move out to my mother's to be able to fit them all in. Not sure if I'm cut out for it all now. Exhausted just with the preparation! Love those little Prima Ballerinas.xxx

Hello there Karen, the kids are growing up so fast. The kids are so lucky to have hands on gramps, lots of fun activities and sweet memories in the making. Your new puppy is cute. Like my little Woolly.
Your neighbour is so kind to give away some cherries. wish I have a neighbour like that. Maybe make some cherry jam?
Anyhow, whishing you a happy week.

love,
Aida

Lovely summer! That bowl of cherries is so bright and yummy. You're a good granny, and it looks like all the girls' activities were fun. They ARE good cookie makers. And I love that they're doing ballet. My girls did ballet a little bit, on and off, and I adored sitting and watching/listening during their lessons. The music was so very peaceful.
