When a Girl Turns 5: Five on Friday

 Happy December Friday to you!
Our Millie turned FIVE YEARS OLD yesterday.  Precious little curly-haired girl! She wanted to have her birthday party at Build-A-Bear.  We have many "bears" left over from our own kids, but somehow choosing, stuffing, and clothing soft toys is still fun.  Five little granddaughters roared around the store.

Our little five year old let everyone else stuff their chosen toy first.  So kind.

Daddy was the only boy there.  Grampy was invited as well but he stayed home to order the pizza for the dinner celebration after BAB.
With pizza, presents, and a rose cake Millie enjoyed the company of family.  James came, too!  He didn't go to Build A Bear but I think he would have loved it!  He is drawn to the Minions!  So cute!
Do you remember when YOU were five?  I do.  I remember sitting in the den  and looking at my hand and feeling VERY old, five whole fingers I was.  Millie won't be in kindergarten until next year, but I was a young kindergartener.  I did not like it at all.  I felt lost.  I missed my sister and my mama.  I was very small and frightened and I did not know what to do with myself at recess.  I would climb onto the merry-go-round and hold onto the cold steel bar until recess was over.  My brother Dave took me to class in the morning and I would cling to him and sob!  He hated that!  My five year old year was sort of sad, I guess!
This kindergartener (Miss Samantha Rose) has redeemed her Granny's sad year!  She LOVES kindergarten and she's learning so much!  Yay!
Pop over to Amy's for other Five on Friday posts!

happy birthday to little Millie, she's delightful. As far back as I can remember my birthdays always involved my two brothers and playing cowboys and indians this was standard whether it was my birthday or theirs!, I was always the indian and I always got lassood by them, birthdays were therefore fairly boisterous events with bruises!

Five years old already? Don't I remember when you posted about her birth? Golly.

What a sweet girl; what a fun birthday!

I remember being five and kindergarten. I didn't know my colors and my teacher had to help me with that. I remember learning to tie shoes on a big shoe and trying to remember my address. Small lessons for little people. They are probably learning MUCH more than that these days!

Happy Birthday to Millie. I've never heard of a Build a Bear store. Sounds like a lot of fun.
I remember being 5 and I loved kindergarten. I remember telling my mom that I wanted to walk to school by myself and was very upset that she had to walk me to school. I did walk home alone though and felt so grown up.

What a nice birthday!! Poor sad baby Pom Pom. I think we could have been friends. I felt the same way. I was very little too and had to crawl up on the school bus.
I think it would be fun to have a birthday at build a bear. All the girls looks so happy. They are so blessed to have their cousins around. I am sure you have had just a delightful time celebrating. Thank you for sharing.

What a great party that was. Happy 5th Birthday Millie. Oh I love that pretty cake. So fancy....
I remember when I was 5 years old. I wanted to go to school and learn my alphabets and numbers and could print and read and the teacher who was boarding at my grandmother allowed me to go and since she had no desk for me, allowed me to sit in her special teacher chair by placing a pile of books on the seat. I felt so special. One of my fond memory. I hadn't thought of it in years. Thanks. Poor little Pompom. How you've blossomed...
Hugs,
JB

What a wonderful way to celebrate being five! I don't remember being five except that I liked my kindergarten teacher.

Happy birthday to Millie. Stuffing a bear sounds fun and how considerate of her to let let friends stuff their bears first. What fun it is to celebrate a 5th year birthday. Though I can't remember being a five year old kid.
Well enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hugs,
Aida

Looks like great fun was had by all at Build-a-Bear and pizza aftewards! What a treat for a new 'five year old' - I lost my father when I was five so it was a vey sad and strange year for me. So lovely to see these little ones having a wonderful time:)

Millie is adorable. Looks like the while family enjoyed the birthday festivities. I never went to Kindergarten; maybe it shows my age! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Pat

She is such a sweetie pie. The party looks fun. I do remember being five and starting first grade. That was long ago!

A very sweet five year old! Your family knows how to celebrate those milestones!
I'm glad she's loving kindergarten, but I can feel your pain as a "too young" kindergartner. We didn't have kindergarten in my school (I'm THAT old!) so I started first grade when I was 6 and would turn 7 in November. I still cried my first day, but I think I must have warmed to it after that. :)
Good to see the jolly seasonal decorations at your hygge home. XXOO
