The Beginning of Holiday Feelings: Five Photos

Here are five photos for Amy's Five on Friday game.  Click over to see other Five on Friday posts!
Our ceilings are too low for the bauble/berry/Who from Whoville tree. Sad.  I sort of want to set up our old ratty tree in the guest room and buy a skinny 6ft tree from Hobby Lobby for the living room.  I was looking at trees online and YIKES they are SO expensive!

Have you read this book?  I read it when we were first married.  I think my granny gave it to me.  Wow.  I find it so inspiring!  The way the ten Boom's conducted their home, their family, their outreach to others . . . SO GOOD. I'm re-reading it.
I like JT.  Do you?  Jody reminded me of his song "Mexico" so we listened to that around our trip time.  Now I am loving his easy voice as he croons a few carols.  Yes, it's time for Christmas music at our house.
Wheeeeee!  Zulily had cute toadstool clogs for super cheap!  They came last night!  I love them!

My sister was visiting her daughter's family in Boulder so I got to have a coffee date with her on her birthday!  Score!  I love her face!  I made it a little green because of my glasses and scarf.
Jenny is coming over this morning.  She bought a new car so we'll tool around town a bit.  I have house guests coming in a few weeks, so I'd like to feather our nest a bit (cleaning, rearranging, planning).
Time for tea and toast now.  Happy weekend, creative people!

I have a small 5ft real christmas tree - it has the no drop needles and is happy growing in the pot, it has seen two christmas times with us and this will be it's third - it smells nice, looks pretty and comes out of the garden (in its pot) every year to grace my conservatory (where it doesn't get too hot) so good value! I nipped the top as otherwise it will keep growing so it stays the size it is - maybe you would like one for your 'second tree' as they are cheaper than fakes and look pretty on a patio or porch all year round. That is a GREAT idea, Betty! I'll look for one! Thank you, friend.

Yikes I am not even thinking about Christmas yet, honest - have two Birthdays to honour first, then Christmas kicks in. Saying that, we replaced our Christmas tree last year as it was beginning to look a bit worn. Love the shoes, and the green picture - beautiful smiles.

I love the spotty clogs, have one more birthday to think about and then I can start to plan for Christmas:)

I love JT! I really like that 6' tree, but, as you say, they are expensive. I'll do a little creative decorating, maybe sans tree or something with a bare tree branch? Merry Christmas!

That book In My Father's House sounds like I would like it. Love your photo choices with those red polka dot shoes, you and your sis, etc. My blog post today is about my celebrating Christmas book.

I love you new red footwear. Very cheery this time of year. What a great photo of you and your sister.I love the happy smiles...

I love, love Christmas but it's so commercialized now that I prefer to decorate in December and keep the decoration into the New Year until January 6. I've been using the same old artificial tree for many years now. I bought a new one a few years ago but gave it away. By Christmas time I'm already overwhelmed with all the hype in the store. So much greed and not enough emphasis on the real reason for Christmas. Keeping Christ in Christmas is becoming more challenging every year. Religious Christmas Cards are getting harder to find also.

Whilst a tree can be expensive, I have actually had mine for over 20 years and it still looks good. It might be worth looking around some of the thrift stores at this time of year you may get lucky. Have a great weekend.

I love those red clogs!!! What cute shoes. I think it would make me happy to wear those, especially on dark days. I hope you find a cute tree. Yes, trees are so expensive. I know I am happy with my little tree I bought last year.
How nice you are going to go drive around with Jenny and her new car. How nice that picture is of you and your sister.
I still haven't turned on Christmas music. Ron says I have a problem because I only have Carols of the Bells by different artists. I will have to put my one song 20 different ways on my iPod.

Have a lovely Friday, I have heavy equipment out front and it does disturb my peace and my thinking. They are digging trenches for gas lines.
Have a nice weekend too.

Great things from your week, especially getting to see your sister for her birthday! I hope that you get your tree sorted out, but in the meantime, enjoy those great new clogs! Thank you for joining Five On Friday. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

You and your sister look so much alike! You cuties!!

I like your clogs and the Alpine Christmas tree. I've thought about getting one of those for a few years, but never have.

I loved reading Cori tenBoom's Hiding Place and your book would be a good one too, I'm sure.

I'm a big James Taylor fan (as you know) and I absolutely LOVE his Christmas album. It never gets old for me. I also like the Charlie Brown Christmas album by Vince Guaraldi. Do you know it?

I read In My Father's House many years ago. Maybe time to reread it.
I like your polka dot clogs ( red is one of my fav. colours).
You have a great weekend too.

Oh I love the clogs! I have been looking for a Christmas tree too. Hobby Lobby. Hubby has been looking on line at very expensive tress. What happened to going to the mountains to cut our own tree? Seemed a bit easier. Really? Enjoy your company.

Those cute shoes had your name on them. If I would have seen them in a store I would have thought of you.
Love the selfie of you and sis. Have fun tooling around town.

YES! I HAVE read that book!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ten Booms!
I also love James Taylor :-)... and those beautiful green faces!
We have a gorgeous 7.5 inch cashmere tipped Christmas tree that I waited forever to get on sale about 3 years ago. On New Year's Eve last year we hadt an electrical fire and guess what the source was...
Fried the prelit part...
Don't know what we'll do about a tree this year.
Like you said, they cost a fortune!
Have a lovely weekend,
Danette

Oh my! I love your shoes, and so much so that I ran over to see Zulily to see if they had more. Alas no, but it was fun to shop. Have a great weekend. :) Kit

You and your sister *both* look a little green -- but that's okay as long as you are together in it.

I love James Taylor mostly because my husband would sometimes sing his songs karaoke, and often to me, and he nailed them! I should listen to his Christmas ones...

For the first time in a long while, I'm thinking "Christmas tree"...but I may cut a cedar off a neighbor's farm. You know, one of those raggedy things that most consider a trash tree but they smell wonderful! Two years ago, my lawyer gave me a Norfolk Island Pine which is now a little more than 2 feet tall; a tad small for ornaments though.
Cute shoes and yes, I do like James Taylor's music but once he broke Carly's heart...hmmm. grin. Never read the book but figure I would love it as the ten Boom story is so familiar to me. What a mighty woman of God was Corrie and that Godly heritage came from her family.

Read that book earlier this year! Loved it. I was on a Corrie kick -- mostly wanted to know more about her family life and her dad was amazing!
