Badger Update!

Mr. Badger has arrived at Angela's house!  Click over! Betty wrote a fun Badger post before she mailed him off. Read that one, too! Having Mr. Badger fly around the world is exciting.  SO MANY people love the story The Wind in the Willows.  Do you? I love the cozy parts when Mole sleeps over at Ratty's house and hears the river flowing by outside the guest room window.  I love it when they stop at Mole's house after he's been away and Ratty tells him that his house is wonderful.  When they stop in at Mr. Badger's house, I want to climb into the book and smell the earthy walls and gaze at the food stores.  I read the book as an adult even though my sister had a gorgeous copy that she received for Christmas in 1964.
The photo below was taken at a friend's woodsy land in Washington.  His dad MAKES this furniture and he does, too!
Wouldn't you LOVE to live in the woods and sit upon fine furnishings like this?

Badger is promoting hygge (look it up - you won't be sorry) and he is not racing across Europe.  He's settling in well at each house he visits.  We don't rush him.  He's not interested in keeping up a crazy pace.
His friends were much busier on their world tour.  He missed them while they were away.
See how worn they were when they returned to Denver?
It's not too late to host Mr. Badger when he returns to the states.  He's going to France next.
Our guests leave tomorrow and then I'm going to a sleepover at Kelli's house on Thursday night.  We'll keep up our usual doings until we leave for New Zealand on Sunday afternoon.  I went to buy the Mickey Mouse shoes, but I saw these for 20 dollars less and I like their glittery glow.  Do you?
It's been cloudy and rainy for two days, so it is the perfect setting for knitting.  I'm making myself a wool hat for our trip because the temps on the south island are chilly. I have to stuff all the clothes I need in my backpack, so it's challenging to decide what to bring.
It's time to go downstairs and shove our dinner  into the oven.  Thank you for popping by and playing along with our Mr. Badger fun!

I've always wondered what I'd consider essential to stuff in a backpack if I had to. ( I spend a considerable amount of time wondering about 'useless' scenarios *smile*). I'm sure it is challenging. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Hello and thanks for visiting my blog. I read your interests and then this post and it looks like we share a lot in common. Because of .winn Dixie was my favorite books to teach third graders. And I am very familiar with hygge after visiting Denmark with my Danish friend. After I rest up from my trip I will enjoy catching up on yours. Hugs, Peggy

I adore the cozy picture of Badger and friends! I look forward to seeing him when he strolls back over to the U.S. side of the big pond.
I'm headed over to read those two posts about him.
What a cute, pointy cap you're knitting! Stay warm in New Zealand and have a wonderful time. I'll be waiting for photos! :)

I like the embroidered book cover of TWITW. I remember when there was an embroidery contest. There were other books that got an embroidered cover too -- Little Women and Wizard of Oz. Maybe some others too.

Like your new sparkly, shiny shoes. They'll go with lots of things.

Wishing you a fun sleepover!

My daughter and I only packed a carry on each when we went to England for 10 days. Between the two of us, we had more than enough stuff. We did have to wash underwear. We even took a small clothesline & pins.

You and Badger are having scads of fun, and those silver/gold sparkly shoes are fabulous. Now I want a pair. Have a lovely journey.

More adventures to follow! will look forward to seeing other corners of the world through Mr Badger's eyes. I do love the woodland furniture - that is something I would definitely love to own! my brother in law is a carpenter but, like many tradesmen, never has time to make for family/leisure - maybe one day! New Zealand? I'd forgotten that you told me about that. I have Kiwi Envy now! I hope you have a fabulous time. Are you going to Auckland? That's where my friend, Mary is. Say hello from me if you happen to bump into her! Safe journey and safe return. xxx

The word hygge reminds me of the word gezellig in Dutch. When I was a child and we were having a cozy family time my mother would say, This is so gezellig! She would explain that it meant something like cozy but more. A feeling of warmth and love and comfort at being together.

Hi Pompom, I do love The Wind in the Willoes, I actually just watched the movie the other day. But I think it is better to read the book. I love the house of Mr Badger too and also Mole's house, so cosy and warm and full of quirky stuff. My kind of things to collect.
Hope you have a safe trip to NZ. And looking forward to seeing your beautiful photos. Thank you for your kind visit.

Hugs,
Aida

Ah, knitting :) I love it more and more. Well, I'm excited to go over and read about Badger's travels to Betty and Angela. And I'm so very glad to hear that it's a luxurious, visiting kind of trip -- that when he arrives HERE in North Carolina's coast, that I can keep him for a bit and really enjoy his company. Yay! Wonderful idea. May you and Bill have safe travels around the world. May you rest and enjoy your time there.

Do you know, I had never read the Wind in the Willows until I found your blog and I got curious. I read it last year and loved it! My daughters favorite ride in Disneyland and the first one we have to ride when we visit, is Mr. Toads Wild Ride! Which we will be doing in 2 weeks! :) Kit
