Post Christmas Planning

Six family members fit in this house just fine, but our growing family bumps into each other, so the tree is coming down today.  Party pooper, huh?
I never quite got the finishing touches put on the tree.  I was distracted by the cleaning and cooking.  Kelli's family gave me the twiggy bird ornament below. Isn't it charming? I love twigs.

We had a little tea party before Christmas, so with that and the Christmas meals I repeatedly pulled the table linens off, washed and dried them, and put them back on.
 And the snow has arrived.
See?  Once again, set up, take down, set up, eat.
Did you have a Christmas dress every year?  We did!  How did my mother have time to sew during the holidays?  She also did LOTS of work at church around that time as well.  Miracle worker, I say!
Grampy held James while his parents ate!  It's hard to eat when you have a baby!  He gets lots of cuddles.

Look at Sam!  Eating rice!  We had Chinese take-out on Christmas eve.  The kids are always roaring around having fun, but I feel like I must start considering their preferences.  I always focus on what the grown ups want to eat.  Must figure this out.
Little zebra legs found her happy place!
 Red, red, and more red!
I like it when the house is full of the kids' stuff and the kids!

And now we push snow around and try to stay warm!  I hope your Christmas was wonderful.  I am happy that ours was nice and I am happy that now we can move on, think about having time to do things in the house, plan our gardens, and knit.  I have not done any knitting for a few days. I have lots of reading to do, too. Do you?
I have three new books (another gnome book, a devotional, and a novel) AND I have two book club books to read.  I have a new sheep skin to put on my desk chair.  Cozy!
I am brewing up a plan to launch Mr. Badger off to Belfast and I will fill you in on that adventure, soon.  In the meantime, have you read The Wind in the Willows?  It's a scrumptious read.
Off to iron, make the bed, layer on some warm clothes, and eat leftover salmon for breakfast.
Thank you for popping in, good visitor!

What a lovely post. I love getting glimpses of your cozy home. I know what you mean when you say you have to start considering what the children want to eat. While the rest of us enjoyed turkey and sweet potatoes etc. yesterday, my grandson had ham and jello and frozen potato patties ( well, they weren't frozen any more obviously). About The Wind in the Willows? Such a wonderful book!!

I love your posts all full of life.
My tree came down bright and early this morning and every thing else is put away. I do love the peace once all of the clutter is gone.
I keep hoping for a stay in my jammy day curled up with a good book but there is so much to get done outside. :) I would love a snow day. It looks so pretty falling and so pretty filling up your yard.
I love getting books for Christmas!
I love all of your sweet helpers. Yes, kid food. I fixed pigs in blankets for Christmas Eve for kids. They liked it.
Have a lovely day getting back to normal.

It was fun, but it's nice to get back to the calm of everyday, isn't it?
Lots of good reading to do. I'm trying to learn to crochet via YouTube videos, but I'm getting frustrated. My eyes just can't figure out which hole to stick the crochet hook through. I think I'll be getting a lesson from my dear daughter, in person. ;)
I'm looking forward to the adventures of Badger! :)

Looks like a wonderful, happy time with your family. You are blessed. : )
I didn't get a new dress for Christmas as a kid but I did for Easter.

It looks like you have had a very merry time with your family. All those busy little girls look like so much fun and I especially like the cuddly polar bear baby with the snow man hat. Good times and many blessings!

I'm having my little girls round today for their Xmas Meal - hope I get to hold the little one while her parents eat! I must be off and try and make my table as lovely as yours! 'Getting back to normal' will come all too soon on Monday morning for me - it all goes far too quickly! Good weekend to you, my friend. xxx

Starting from the end of your post and working my way up.
YES! I've read The Wind in the Willows as an adult and really enjoyed it. Love all the red in your home and your green door. We've always had to squeeze everyone into our home. :) We had to take our tree down as soon as we opened all the Christmas presents because it was dead dead dead and I didn't want it to go up in flames and burn down the house. Love the idea of Chinese check out on Christmas Eve! Glad you had a good Christmas and now you have some good reading time ahead. SNOW...enjoy.

Your dining table is very festive and cheery for Christmas. I like it. Our house was very full of people too. Snug. I always think it's big when it's just the two of us, but when the kids and their kids come, it's FULL.

Wishing you lots of quiet reading and knitting and loving your peeps coming up in the new year.

I love having the little ones around. I love the noise and laughter and the fun! I have two grandchildren who eat a gluten free diet and one of them is also dairy sensitive, so I've had to learn their likes and how to make them in a new way. It was a challenge at first but I'm getting there! I love your table setting... so cheerful!

Oh, yes! I have wondered lately about Mr. Badger's travel plans! Thanks for remembering him I love for him to visit. Will he be lonely, traveling by himself?

Your Christmas home looks happy and bright. So glad you have much family around, and so much love to share. I also am glad to have Quiet January now, to sink into quietly.
