September Stroll, Yarn, and Roses

The days of September are true blessings.  The sun shines, it's warm, and the nights are cool.  Even though I've been a reluctant walker (it takes up so much TIME) I still get out and hoof around the neighborhood and I'm always glad I did!
Even the wormy apples look pretty hanging on the neighbor's trees.

I think the crab apples (not mine - our tree croaked) are enough to make a walker get teary!  They are SO red, so fall-ish, so GORGEOUS!

I really should go out and ride my bike around.  Fall is all about getting outside, don't you think?

What are THESE?  Fall crocuses?  Anybody know?
I'm sorry to be quite redundant! I can't help it!  Crab apple red is my favorite!

My sisters gave me a gift certificate to a favorite yarn store.  Would you like to come along?

This is what I bought.  White wool.  I am going to make a shawl for a grieving friend.  I must finish my mama's shawl first (just about done!) and then I'll pray for Shari while I knit her a warm shiver-protector.

Bill brought me flowers for  my birthday!  They smell SO GOOD!  He's a darling lamb.

He gave me a balloon, too.  Aw!  Tomorrow I am going to eat cupcakes for breakfast and party all day with Sam and Plum Cake.  Kelli and Millie might come for lunch and maybe Christie and James, too!
I might even put my clown nose on for Sam.
I hope my birthday is a good day for YOU, too!  LOL!

Your roses are gorgeous!! I'm glad you are having a happy birthday.
Yes, those are Fall crocus
( Colchicum Autumnale). I believe they put out leaves in Spring and flowers in the Fall.

Love your fall photos. I agree that fall is for hoofing around (before it gets snowy and cold). I really like crab apples too. They are so stunning. If I had a crab apple tree, I would snip branches and put them in a fall arrangement.

Happy, happy, happy Birthday dear Lady! I'm glad Bill is giving you the royal treatment!

I know what you mean about walking taking up so much time! Time we could be reading or drawing! But I'm also glad when I do finally get myself outside. Not that I do much walking (I'm on my feet all day!) but just outside to enjoy the fresh air. Pistachio hasn't been out of the shed for a long time. It would probably be a good idea!
Wow! That's a lot of yarn! Pretty colors! I think you made a good choice.
I enjoyed the crab apples.
You share a birthday with my hubby, so it's easy to remember! (Though I don't think we'll have much use for birthdays in Heaven. Just forever-ness with Jesus!)
Enjoy that family! :)

Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you had a wonderful time. Those flowers are indeed autumn crocuses, they are properly called colchicums, and are also called naked ladies because the leaves come in spring and the flowers come in autumn with no leaves! xx

Happy Birthday PomPom!!!!!!! Many blessings on you!!!! I agree about crab apples. They are so beautiful and I always think, "What can I do with these?!!!!" -- but of course no time for jelly or anything. Reading a wonderful book called "Eyes Wide Open" all about Beauty. The author talks about beauty creating wonder in us which, as a Christian, is then meant to lead us to worship/praise of God. This is so true!!!! And then those crab apples are justified in their gorgeous, non-useful existence -- praise of God just for their beauty.

Happy Belated Birthday. So sorry I missed posting a comment on your birthday. i've been down with a nasty cold and couldn't even finish commenting on everyone's blogs but I'm feeling a bit better today.

Wow, what a nice bouquet of roses.
My crabapples are still on my tree and I haven't had time to make crabapple jelly yet.

Hugs,
JB

Dear Pom! Happy belated birthday! It looks like you had a very joyous occasion :) I want to see the clown nose, please??? :) I looked longingly at all that wonderful yarn, and predicted you would overlook the earth tones and the blues, and buy an orange, yellow, or red. And then ... you got white!!! I was surprised. Your friend will love her shawl. Well, happy birthday. The flowers from your hubby are wonderful. Enjoy for many days.
