Gardens and Cake

How many times have you worn your swimsuit this summer?  I hope you've had ample opportunities to laze by a pool or run through the sprinkler. Yeah, my swimsuit's not my favorite outfit either.  Smile.

On Monday I met Ann from The Garden Spot!  We went to the Denver Botanic Gardens.  You can see better photos of our blog field trip on Ann's blog.

I felt comfortable with Ann right away.  She's friendly and happy.  We toured around the gardens and gabbed.

We loved the Chihuly exhibit. You can read more about him here.

The day at the gardens was a day well spent. Yay!
Speaking of days well spent, we've had these two cubs here at our house.

The best way to keep Granny and the girls happy all day is to plan old fashioned fun.  Cake.

We baked a birthday cake for Sam's favorite stuffed animal, Lambie.

Bill and I are off for a short trip.  We'll be back soon.  I have lots of Granny biz to do for a while, so there are no creative endeavors in progress at the moment.

I'm doing a lot of reading.  The Big House by George Hole Colt is fascinating.  I really like reading about family vacation homes, summers by the sea, that sort of thing.

I must go pack my knapsack. I wish you smooth sailing today, kind reader.

I always enjoy reading Ann's posts about her garden. How nice to meet another blogger. Now, when you visit England....maybe....?

Fun and more fun. Meeting a fellow blogger for a garden visit and baking birthday cakes with the grands. Love it.

OH I love swimming, I go three times a week at the gym - there is a stable next door and the horses look out and watch me splashing up and down. I have a new pink flowery swimsuit and also a light blue one... I love swimwear but I have been buying sarongs on ebay to wear on holiday as I like to keep my legs out of view when walking around! I hope you DO jump through the sprinker on the lawn and that you paddle too. Betty x

I've dipped in one set of granddaughters' kiddie pool in my swim suit. The neighbor grands have a nice blow-up pool (they call a spa) that we will "swim" in tomorrow. It's supposed to turn very hot so that will be fun.

Cake! Yum!

Wishing you Happy Trails on your journey.

Zero on the bathing suit...but really, I am okay with that. LOvely lovely gardens and I especially like the peaceful lily pond. What beautiful blooms! Have a fun get-away!

I've only had on my swimsuit once this summer. (I opted for the kind with a skirt this year since I'm now a granny.:) But....sweet hubby and I are planning a 10 day camping vacation in August and I plan on making up for lost swimming days then.

Love your pictures. What fun you're having with those precious little ones this summer! Hope you have a great trip!

Love those glass floats bobbing about! Great photos and oh those blue eyes. You have a great time! I am busy getting ready for a birthday party tomorrow for my youngest. :) Love to celebrate! Kit

Love the colorful sprinkles, chubby cheeks and girl talk in the hallway!
I love the sensation of bobbing about in a swimming pool, but just never take the trouble to go into town to find one! I'm not a lake person, so I don't take advantage of the beach that's just a quarter mile away from home! :)

Nope, I have not worn a swimming costume this summer, I'm afraid I don't have the figure for it after giving birth lol, but Little J has had hers on in the paddling pool and had great fun splashing around in the sunshine :-) the cake looks delicious! I hope you have a lovely weekend x

I haven't worn a swimming costume this summer, but then we don't have the weather generally in NW England! :)

The gardens photos look amazing, I love pottering around gardens.

And that cake, mmmm, I'm hungry now! xx

Hi PomPom!!! I just stepped off the supersonic plane that was 4h and VBS and now maybe I will get some semblance of order back to life? :) Lots to catch up on.......as for swimming, my poor kids! They've been barred from the pool for nearly 3 weeks because some of them had a tummy bug. But we will be out of quarantine this week so we'll have to find a time to go. Cake is always a good idea and what a fun idea to bake it for a stuffed animal birthday! I'm going to remember that one!!! I hope you enjoy your little trip away! Michael and I are getting away for a night to celebrate our 15th! I think it has been nearly 4 years since we've been away on our own for more than a few hours. That book sounds good -- I looked it up and placed it on hold at the library.

The pictures from the Denver Botanical Garden take my breath away! May I ask what camera you are using and is it user friendly. I have been using to take my pictures lately. The phone is easy to carry and I always have it with me. I love visiting gardens too.
