Ha Ha Ha

In Ann Voskamp's Advent book, The Greatest Gift, she writes about laughter.  Sometimes I don't laugh very much.  At school, I get overwhelmed with a sense of responsibility and forget to find the humor in the moment.  Sometimes I just don't think "joke-y" people are funny and I confess that the mean side of me often says to myself, "Why does she or he ALWAYS have to joke around?  Why is it so hard to be real?" Well, no wonder I can't find the humor sometimes.  Crabby old Pom Pom.
Yesterday after school there were quite a few boys in my room for homework club.  They were saying some pretty funny things to each other and I found myself smiling and liking them even more than I already do.  Kids ARE funny!
A joyful heart, full of wonder at the birth of Jesus the KING, will be quick to laugh, right?
Here is funny Sam when she was smaller.  She had her first day of preschool this week and Jenny posted a video of her sitting on the sofa singing a school song she made up.  So cute!  So funny!  I think I'll wear my Santa hat to school today.  It's definitely cold enough. Brrrrrrr!
 Here, have an orange smile!
Or a cookie smile!  I'm going to try to take myself less seriously today.  I'll let you know if I laugh more.

Why PomPom, I cannot imagine a grumpy you, for you always bring a smile to my face. At the same time, teaching does has it dark side, but leave it to the children to lift our spirits.

I am so like you, I am uncomfortable around "jokey people," I always think I need to laugh more too. I hope today you laugh lots and today is a fun day for you.
So glad it is Friday.

I think jokey people are often passive-aggressive, like teasers.

Archbishop Tutu and the Dalai Lama always seem to be laughing. What do they know that we don't?

This is how I think of Sam so when you post big girl pictures I am always a little surprised. I have a difficult time picturing you as grumpy, too. Humor is a gift from God, I think, and it sure makes life more fun.

Isn't it strange how we see ourselves and how others see us? Your posts always bring me a smile so I imagine you has a happy, jovial person. Working in a school can certainly be somber nowadays... while I laughed quite a bit at school, I find that I am much quicker to smile and laugh now that I'm retired.

What I like about being a teaching assistant rather than a teacher is the way that I can just bump along with my little class all day, and they really do make me laugh. I tell them this. You make me laugh, I'll say. Then they'll look quizzically and wonder why. And I do find that when I look deep into my boys' eyes and smile hard, even if I'm not really smiling on the inside, it helps.

What a cute post and one I really needed...end of the semester in high school is often not a very smiley time and I needed this reminder to lighten up!

What a lovely sentiment. Laughter does make the days sail along but sometimes we need to be in the right frame of mind or not let out professional selves become a miserable habit. I am glad you had fun listening to the kids and will definitely accept your offer of an orange smile!

I hope you were able to laugh and smile more today! I know that it can be difficult at times when daily cares have worn you down. I know I can be very grumpy sometimes too, though I do love to laugh. And I will take an orange smile, they are a favorite...thank you very much! :)

Well you always come across as a smiley happy person in your posts. I guess we all have days when we can't seem to find things funny...when we're tired or have too much on our minds. Monday mornings are my worst for that! Have a good weekend xx

Goodness me, Pompom, I can't imagine you ever being grumpy!! Still as Maggie said, sometimes we all have days when the Grumps take over.

As I keep saying to people: look after yourself, spend time with those you love...that way, the grumps should (hopefully) go away. There's something soon to be on its way to you!

How fun to go back and see you referenced Ann Voskamp, because I referenced her in my Pause today. Had no idea she writes books like the one you posted.

I will respond with my address today. Don't spend too much time on your fairy, ok? You have way too much on your plate to craft anything that takes too much time.

Someone once told me, "You have a sarcastic sense of humor and that's the lowest form of humor." I looked at (my former boyfriend) and said, "Well at least I have a sense of humor!"
You caught the word "former", grin.
Karen, I don't laugh nearly as much as I should but I do laugh at myself, often. P'raps it all evens out, eh?

Yummy orange slices! It's lovely how one's teeth sink into them, and the sweetness fills the mouth. Mmmmm. I think of many words when I think of Pom Pom, but "crabby" is NOT EVER one of them!! I don't laugh like I should, and they say it is so very healthy for you.
