Cheer Points

Hello!  Here is a bowl of summer fruit for you.  Aren't raspberries gorgeous?  We can still buy berries at the grocery store, but they are not beautiful and juicy like the gems of summer.
I have a hard time adjusting the knobs and dials on my bigger camera, so this is fuzzy.  Tree light in the morning is so cheerful. I wish we could have trees at school.  It's pretty dull there without Christmas and I think staff and students get a little stressed this time of year, especially when there are not little "cheer points" scattered around.
I think I'll make myself a cup of tea (I've already had two cups of coffee) and eat a few shortbread cookies for breakfast.
I pray that your day will have a little Christmas tucked in each corner.

Pom Pom,
For some reason this was the first morning I did NOT turn the Christmas tree lights on to accompany me while I sipped my morning coffee and read blogs? Why? I don't know. I think I was in the mood for some quiet time with just one small lamp lit. Or perhaps I didn't think I deserved the pretty lights this morning....hee hee. Your tree looks so pretty and cheerful. Hope you enjoyed your cookie breakfast~

Your tree is so bright and happy. And I love raspberries. They do taste better picked in early morning from my own vines, but hey, I'll take some in the winter too!!! Have a lovely week Pom.

I didn't know schools couldn't have Christmas trees. How sad! I am hoping to make shortbread today, if I can keep up my strength against this flu in our house...

Perhaps this would be the time to hang a brightly colored banner or pennants across one end of your room... or maybe tiny twinkle lights. There must be some way to bypass the no-tree rule and bring some light and cheer into your room. You spend so much time in there!

The summer fruit does look so tempting. I am sorry that children cannot enjoy Christmas at school because the season does loft the spirit.

I had some Christmas in my day as I put up the decorations...no tree, because of the Very Bad Kittens, but we have Christmas twigs with lights and garlands round the doors. I feel happy and at peace. I am sure you can find a way to bring something cheery into your classroom...it does seem odd that you can't decorate your school for Christmas.

I love your tree and little "cheer points." I put up lights in my classroom and the kids all seem to really like it. Many of the teachers have done the same and we haven't gotten in trouble. We are feeling the stress at our school too - a student started a fire in the bathroom on Tuesday and we stood outside all afternoon. That students won't be coming back...
Have a good weekend.

The bunting is FAB! Everything you do is always just so... bright (my ray of sunshine friend)!!

I'm feeling dated but I didn't realize that you couldn't decorate at school. I suppose I should have assumed but my light is dimming (only for a moment) at this new revelation. I'm so tired of the squelching rules. And I'm nervous about how many kids are going to be influenced by this slow indoctrination. You keep brightening your corner and I'll continue to pray for teachers like you!

Blessings, Debbie

Miss Pom Pom
I am delighted to be back and visiting you and your cheerful blog. You are like a breath of fresh air and are always so happy !
It always leaves me smiling

Many years ago, the preschool (3-4 years) didn't have a Christmas tree and had to be careful of different races and religions as now seems to be a big turn of events in our traditional festive season. The wonderful teacher had such a great way keeping the peace so to speak by having little arrangements around the school room. She was a big collector of vintage goodies so vintage was everywhere ! On one little table she had a collection of vintage snow globes, they would all make paper chains and hang them around the room in bright colours and then her very favourite.......she collected little Bambi figurines. Bambi was representing the reindeer and she very cleverly made a festive reindeer/Bambi theme without it looking too Christmas.
The end of year concert consisted of the little ones singing little songs that they had learnt during the year but there was ALWAYS 'Rudolph the RedNose Reindeer' sung at the very end for those who did celebrate Christmas and every child in the room would love to sing it because it was such a magical song.

Your tree is beautiful! One year I substituted long term in art over Christmas. It was so much fun but that was back when we could be festive. I like your term "cheer points" and I know you have those in your classroom.
