Ironing Aprons and Pom Pom's Classroom

This weekend, when I was meant to be sewing curtains, I decided to iron old aprons instead.  My mother-in-law was a tiny human, so the aprons I have that belonged to her are little and cute! The embroidery on this apron is so cheery!
Little Blue (the iron - I just named her) is sweating with all the effort!
 A pocket for a handkerchief!
I like the rick rack on this vintage-print smock apron.
Someone was a fine seamstress, don't you think?  I find old linens so life-giving.  I find ironing the most satisfying chore.  No wonder I idolize Mrs. Tiggy Winkle.

 Now for the classroom . . .
Look at all the tissues the new students contributed to the class!  I foresee lots of nose blowing!
Do you like the tree and the homespun background?
I admit the "theme" got a little crazy.  The forest.  Cabin.  Cozy.  Oh well.  It all came together.

 And then we have mountains!
 A chair for Granny!
Here are the owl curtains.  Can you spot the toadstool?
School is perking along just fine.  The kids are VERY sweet!  Finally, my classroom is fairly cool, too.  I was so hot for the first few days.
It's way too busy and that's always my complaint.  I miss being home.  I do go very slow at home and I can't go slow at school.  I know heaps of grace will help me to adjust.
My mom sent me another bird feeder and you should see all the winged friends flying around in our garden.  Don't you love your birds?
Thank you for dropping in to say hello!

What marvelous aprons! I really do love aprons of all kinds, but vintage ones are especially dear.

Your classroom is so cozy and warm and colorful. I love your bunting! I know the children must be happy to be there.

Did you finish reading A FINE ROMANCE? I got my copy last week and am reading very slowly. I don't want to finish it!

Happy back to school!

I never had a cozy warm classroom to attend like yours. If I had, I might never have left school. What a terrific place to learn and feel welcome and loved. It is evident that you love your job and your students!!! And oh, those aprons. I must admit that I am coveting them...and I don't even feel guilty about it.

The aprons are so pretty, so old. I love them! And your owl curtains will be a hit with the students -- it seems owls are all the rage these days. I love, love your chair!! I'm afraid I would fall asleep in there, if I sat to read aloud to your kids. So cozy :) Have a loving time in your class with your kids, dear. May God bless every word, every deed.

Aren't the aprons fun. Women don't really wear aprons any more, much less sew them, and iron them ? What's that? You classroom looks so inviting and fun.

I love those pretty aprons, hope you wear them. The classroom looks so welcoming and cosy, like a home from home. I think those kids will feel very inspired in that room. Betty x

My precious little princess starts school today and if her classroom is half as wonderful as yours, I'll be so happy for her. I'm sad that our whole days together have come to an end but there's always the school holidays. I get paid to iron and I still find it a boring chore but I love all of those aprons, or 'pinnies' as we call them over here.

Hello Pom Pom, thank you so much for that statement..old linens are indeed life-giving! That must be why I treasure them so. Aprons are about gathering up & tucking in, holding close & nurturing...what do you reckon.
I spotted the toadstool straight away in your classroom. You have a lot of fabric there to..makes it all feel homey & anchored.
Much love Katie x0x0x

I adore those vintage aprons. The fabrics fascinate me and yes, the sewing is perfect too!

Your classroom is so inviting -- like home school. It feels cozy and homey. A place where you can relax and feel loved and learn all at the same time.

Wishing you love and grace as you forge ahead this school year.

The aprons are treasures.
Your room...well it is great and I have been praying Benjamin will have a teacher that loves kids and teaching like you do. Oh the supplies..I have laughed over 42 erasers Benjamin needed...in all the years of home schooling we never used that many and I had six kids! My friend said, "just you wait Janette, you will be amazed how much they will use up."
Our adventure begins..we meet the teacher on Thursday evening.
Prayers and blessings to you this year and your students.

Those lucky kids to have you as a teacher, creative, sweet, smart and always showing them something that will intrigue. What is behind the owl curtain?

What sweet aprons. I've picked my favorite. I have one that is tiny, too. What is with the tiny people in olden times? I also really really really love the quilt on the back of your cozy classroom wingback.

Have a very blessed start of school!!!

Bob had his first radiation treatment today. Thanks for your prayers. He is enveloped by God's love and healing. :)

Your aprons are lovely! And your classroom looks like a lot of fun. :) I love the owl curtains! My daughter and son-in-law start teaching on Monday the 26th. I'm going to help Megan over the weekend with some last minute things to get the classroom set up. She says she has a tv, so we're going to watch a Jane Austen movie while we work. I told her she could choose which one. :)

Love the aprons! It is funny how comforting and cheering linens can be, isn't it? I recently bought some cloth napkins at a thrift shop that made me smile just to see their bright primary colored plaid design.

I said goodbye to my summer school classroom this Thursday. It lifts my spirit to see the room you will be teaching in this fall. So like you. A perfect fit! :)

Your classroom is charming and I love the riot of color and all those tissue boxes too. And what I spied right away was that little green polka-dot heart! Love the toadstool too. And I agree ironing is a very rewarding task. The smell of the hot iron on the fabric, smoothing out those wrinkles, the steam huffing away . . . the ironing board creaking . . . lots of fun.

It has been a pleasure to spend time catching up with all your news PomPom: since I've been away you have experienced so much, both joy and sadness. I wept a tear for your loss, smiled at your excitement and pleasure during your holidays - and I love what you have done in your classroom. You make it look like a great place to learn. God bless you, dear blogging friend
