Riding on Sunshine

Look what I found at Target!  Yay!  Her name is Sunshine and she's my wheels for tooling around my neighborhood this summer.  I haven't had a new bike since I was 13.  It's about time, right? I was a little shy the first time I tried her (today!) and I thought people might laugh and point (ha ha I know the average person isn't THAT mean!) but nobody did and it is FUN to coast down the small hills!
Now I need a helmet, a basket, and a lock.  I can pedal down to the grocery store in the morning.  Hooray!
Feeling ULTRA summery, I made potato salad again.  (I know you don't like it, MK) I LOVE potato salad.  I also sat out in the sun for a little while, just to soak up the vitamin D, right?
Like Mary Engelbreit says, "Life is like a chair of bowlies" and it IS isn't it?  Oh, today for my "fun writing" I wrote about silence.  What do you have to say about silence?
One and a half days of school left for me!  As excited as I am to be FREE, I usually feel a bit zombie-like for a week or so.  I see sofa time and movie watching in my near future.
Thank you so much for stopping in, friends.

Love your new bike! That style is all the rage now! It reminds me of the bike I had as a kid which was pink and I called it, "Pink"! Haha, not very original!
Have a great week riding!

I love Sunshine and imagining you riding her. I named my first bike Purple Beauty. I was six years old. I also love potato salad, so much so that i used to eat it for breakfast in college. It got followed down with a Big Red. OH, those where the days....

Lovely bike! what fun - I can't ride a bike - it's on my list of things to learn. If you have some nice straight roads you are going to have a great time. Enjoy your sofa time - Betty

Love your sunshine, and very glad to see you make proper potato salad with eggs in it.

Oh I love your little yellow something! A basket- decidedly yes to the basket- more and many more bike blogs please! Silence. I am surrounded by it this morning and it fits my tired mood. Silent apart from the buzzing fly, the far off barking dog, the tap tap tap of inter-continental virtual communication! (I didn't know that proper potato salad had eggs in- must investigate...)

Sunshine is FANTASTIC ! You pedal your heart out Miss Pom Pom , who cares who's looking. Some of my best years were on my pink version of a bike very similar. The feeling of the wind rushing through your hair, the sites you will see and the freedom of it all is so addictive. Have fun xoxo

Loving Sunshine; just be careful! And your cherries and eggs make a great picture.

1.5 days to freedom, YES.

I very much like imagining you tooling around your neighborhood on Sunshine. I hope you will get a basket with big plastic flowers to attach to the handlebars.

I am not very good with silence, maybe because there seemed to be a lot of it in my house growing up. I almost always have the radio going--classical music during the day, NPR in the evening. Sometimes I force myself to shut it off and live in the silence for a little, but I can only last so long without noise.

The exception to this is when I'm on my screened porch. Of course, it's not silent there--there are birds and bugs and traffic noises--but every once in awhile there's no sound but the breeze, which I like to think is the sound of God's presence.

I love your new bike. It just has summer vacation written all over it. I can't wait to see your basket. Your cherries are so photogenic.
I am so glad you are on the down side and have a nice summer before you. I always think of it smelling like sheets brought in fresh from the clothesline.
Today is my first day of no have to's and I wonder what I will be getting into. I am still at the point of zombie like you said.
Have a great few days.

Oh yes, PomPom, get a helmet immediately - and wear it all the time! (Well, all the time you are cycling!)When I think of what might have happened to Mr FD (and what DID happen to another member of the Cycle Club) if he hadn't been wearing a helmet...
It doesn't bear thinking about!

Loving your own special "Sunshine"!! What a treat! I've always loved that certain freedom I feel while riding a bicycle.

Embrace your inner zombie--relax and do just what you want to do. Welcome summer!

Oh you precious thing! I saw that bike and I squealed!! She's divine. (No offense intended to God. I run out of adjectives at times.) You will so enjoy her! I was hesitant my first couple of days too, but then I got my bike legs back, and I love riding round town. You'll set a trend! Other ladies will see you and think, "I can do that too!" Oh, Pom, I'm so happy for your upcoming delightful rest. Sofa and movies it is :)

That's my kinda bike! No multiple gears to fool with; just pedal and daydream!
Enjoy your sofa and movie time. You have to give yourself time to recoop before heading into all that fun ahead!
Oh yes. I like lots of eggs in my potato salad, too. I haven't had real potato salad in many years. I should give it a try.
Happy summer!

Hello Ms Zombie..what a lovely thing to do..write each day. Aren't words wonderful! Words like sunshine! What a perfect, perfect sunshiney yellow that dear bicycle of yours. The seat looks really comfy! I am so glad to be able to love bright, bold colours more & more as I get older. About 20 years ago, my friend Ali & I decided that when we were really old that we would buy HUGE tricycles with baskets & probably ride on the footpath (pavement to you!)..funny, today I saw a disabled girl riding a huge tricycle on the footpath in town & I still thought YES!
I am glad that your Dad is home & recovering well..just slower for a bit I guess.
I am intrigued to see you go from snow blanketing to full sunshine & flowers so fast!
Have a wonderful break.
Much love GK x0x0x

Sunshine is a perfect name for your new bike. She is so cute. Love the color!!
Potato salad says summer to me. I haven't made my first batch, but it won't be long.
You will deserve a nice rest when the school year is done.

I love your new bike, Karen, and am most envious of your *knees*! grin
Last year, I bought a really cook bike and rode it...once. My knees screamed until I got off the bike and walked it up the small hills in our valley. I think I'll save a bike for when I move to the flat land. Potato salad sounds good so I think I'll make some as well and the cherries look Wonderful!
