Starting Sunday

When we were at Brad and April's church Sunday, I admired the decorations.  I bet you feel like I do, you'd like to play with this creche.  Isn't it majestic?
I love listening to my boy teach and preach.  He's always had a heart for holy truths and he's been a good book worm since he could recognize a bookcase.
Of course he got all teary listening to HIS firstborn sing, "This is the Day!"  I added her song at the end of my last post.
Millie turned two years old!  This party game is called Ella Fun.  Butterflies shoot out of the elephants trunk and the butterfly nets are handy to catch them.  It was a noisy ruckus.
 We had pizza and cake.
This little pinkie loved her crown, her gifts, her cake.
Cake.  I'm not sure why I think cake is so romantic, so symbolic of good things.  I think we'll have cake instead of pie at Christmas.  I think I'll try my best to make a super duper cake to celebrate Jesus and His birth.
Meanwhile, I'm still mindful of slowing down.  This has been a rather speedy week, but it's not over yet.  Have you been slowing down at all?  However do you do it?
I hope this day brings you a string of quiet moments, good pilgrim.

Happy Birthday lil Millie Rose! What fun!

I think slowing down is a state of mind more than anything, don't you? While grandmothering yesterday (aka: babysitting) we took a walk around the block and instead of hurrying Miss B, I let her pick up pine cones, see the Christmas decorations, and allowed myself to "be in the moment." We still have deadlines and places to be, but I think it feels more "slowed" if we are appreciating where we are at that moment and thinking about what God has for us to do.

How wonderful, to listen to your son pastor a flock! That's wonderful! I do love the Hello Kitty cake -- very cute, and the butterflies. That's very creative, whoever invented it. Slowing down? Yes, I think I'm doing that. It helps that we are new here, and I'm not overinvolved in the community. I was very cautious about over-committing, months ago. And even now, part of being able to slow down and observe the season, is the ability to quietly say "NO," or just to keep myself from volunteering for everything that comes along. I'm so glad, b/c I want to look back and realize I valued the time and participated in Advent with a peaceful heart. That's the participation I want to do :)

If I could lasso December to slow it down I would. I have tried to be slower but it seems like it is just a runaway train. Not to mention every single day has so much going on. I love your birthday girl she is adorable and the lovely Church service.
You really are so blessed Pom Pom.
Such a lovely snapshot of life. Have a great rest of the week.

You have the sweetest family, PomPom, and I love seeing all of your special celebrations. Those pretty blue dishes make me want to slow down and linger over a cup of coffee. I imagine it is much easier to sit and savor when one uses beautiful dishes!!! :) hugs from tx

No, I am not slowing down but I do feel at peace so maybe this is part of His plan.
Love your posts.

Happy birthday to litte Millie Rose. You must be so very proud of your son leading his own flock. My oldest boy spoke on the English speaking radio about his faith when he was out in Spain doing the yearly beach mission entertaining young children - I didn't get to hear it - so disappointed, 2nd year running I missed it! I am slowing down, ready to listen and just be in the moment. Betty x

I love Ella Fun!

So far Christmas has been slow, but that's because I'm doing the fun stuff--listening to carols and reading good books--and haven't gotten to the baking, wrapping, buying, etc. Sigh.

Hi Jody! You're right. Being full of peace because of the Prince of Peace is a moment by moment state, isn't it? Picking up pine cones sounds just right.

I like it, MK. We shouldn't have to explain our choices for the Advent season. Sometimes I say no to more things because I want more quiet, but this year there are more things that are hard to say no to. Does that make sense?
Oh, I DO savor quiet days when they come.

Yay for crochet! I have a nice fat hook to try (and some fat pink yarn).
Good words, Julie!

It is! Hooray! I wish I was better at cake baking, but I'm going to try, Nancy.

Thank you, kind Kim. Yes, we keep trying to buck the busy. It works better some days than others. The kids at school don't seem too rushed or stressed. Yet.

Thank you, TexWis! She was so happy!

It was fun and VERY noisy, Carolyn!

Yes, those dishes (that whole tea actually) was at a little tea house downtown, this summer. It was very peaceful!
Thank you for your kind words about my dear family. I savor the celebrations.

Yes, little Millie is growing like a weed!

Kit, your decorated house is gorgeous according to your photos! I bet your girls LOVE stopping by for big doses of December happy!

Hi Susan B! We kept asking her, prior to her birthday, if she was excited. She smiled. When her day came, she was very relaxed. No screaming or crying! She relished that cake!

Hi GK! Thank you for watching CB's song! I believe in birthday cakes! Do you know that some of my students never get a birthday cake? They receive other things but sometimes NO cake. Sad!
Hot, really? Yikes! Oh, DO buy cherries and strawbs! YUMMY!

Your beautiful Grandaughter is the cutest ! Her little face is full of happiness watching for the butterflies to come out of the tube. I agree, a birthday cake symolises more than a party. It celebrates life and love and happiness. Each slice represents a slice of love that is shared with the birthday girl/boy.
I hope that she had a happy day. You must be very proud of your son. He looks so very passionate about his beliefs.
Pop on over to my blog tomorrow because I am having a free giveaway for Christmas and you will adore the prize xo

what can I say but priceless...and the scriptures that says what a joy to see our children walk with the Lord...seeing your son must be one of the biggest earthy joys, that impacts eternity

Karen, the butterfly nets look like tons of fun! As to slowing down, yep, I'm so slow I'm almost at a standstill. I say no a lot and don't go out much but I don't have family where I live and my girlfriend lives 26 miles away. It's a lot easier for me to stay close to home.
As to cake for Christmas...sounds delicious!
Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Hi Mouse! That's actually our Kelli's pretty home. Our home is a little more full of teapots, old cozy furniture, and well . . . old stuff! But both our homes are full of joy, fun, laughter, and love! Thank you for stopping by, friend!
