Home Song

Well, are YOU puttering around your house now that the festivities have died down a bit?  I am!  Before the big day, I had fun at Kelli's house.  I put a bandana on Millie's head.  Doesn't she look cute?
Sweet Lizzy received a Jelly Cat duck on Christmas eve.  Her little hat was a gift from her Auntie Kelli.  Is three months old the BEST age, or what?  She's so lovely!
Something I found in the Barbie piles at Kelli's house, the fairy godmother!  I need one.  I am heading to the Disney Store soon!
I bought myself a bird poem book before Christmas.  Isn't it pretty?  Poems and birds = great combo!

Jenny suggested we decorate cookies after Christmas eve supper.  Great idea!  Miss Bug is looking like a Christmas girl, isn't she?

Ugh.  Limited sugar for this granny from this point on.  Apples, oranges, and grapefruit are just the ticket!
I was waiting for my iPod to charge before getting on the treadmill (SO MUCH WORK, that treadmill!) so I had a small ironing fest!  I pulled out all the "fun to iron" things from my overflowing basket.  Don't you love my peach face?  It was a gift from my amazing friend Jody!  The other linens were embroidered by my grannies.  The crochet came from my mother-in-law's stash years ago.
My mother-in-law also had a lovely collection of hankies!  Isn't this one pretty?  It's big.  Well, anyway . . . now a dent has been made in the ironing and I DID get on the treadmill (thud, thud, thud).  I took a long deep nap and watched a movie.
Oh by the way, the fruit cake was a HUGE flop.  It tasted weird and I remembered that I don't like fruit cake.  Hmmmmm.  I made a chocolate cake that I like a little TOO much and I did not make the pie because the sweets kept piling up and we just can't manage all of it.  We used to be able to, but not any more. We have leftovers galore in the refrigerator.
I wanted to check in and say hello.  I have a lot of photos to take.  My gift books are glorious.  I now have a bread machine! Woo hoo!  I have never had one before, so I have a lot of reading to do (and thinking) before I pull it out of the box.
Did I mention that I LOVE being home?
Thanks for popping by!

Well as always it looks like you had a lovely Christmas. I am with you on the apples and oranges and grapefruit. So sick of sweets. I didn't bake a single cookie this year, but the girls did so we were covered on cookies.
We have tons of leftovers too. Your babies are just so precious.
I only walked a bit, I need to be walking tons and tons. I liked that picture where you could see the back yard and there was still snow on the ground.
It is supposed to snow in the foothills around us tonight, so it will be very cold. The moon was already out and it was so pretty.
I can't wait to see lots of pictures of your new books.
I am glad you are home too. Have a nice rest of the week.

Hmm. I just lost the comment I was typing. Well ... I laughed and giggled at your post. I'm over-sweeted too! I've thrown out the old leftovers to free up our frig. When I look at the adorable pics of your grands, and GJ's grands, and other ladies' grands ... I wonder: will I have the energy to do the whole grandchildren thing? I'll need to get up and bake cookies and teach little ones how to crochet, and carry them around, and read stories, and have sleepovers. Goodness!! How do you do it all? Enjoy your time at home, dear. A very merry Christmas after.

Oh my so much going on at your house. I love the fairy good mother. I have a collection of the Disney princesses. How did I miss Cinderella's fairy good mother. Yes. It is nice to be home, isn't it. You seem to have plenty to do keep busy. I put my treadmill in the garage. With good intentions, of course. Happy New Year, PomPom and thank you for your wonderful posts and comments all year. Looking forward to more.

I slept most of the day today recovering from yesterday. Plus I'm sick, so the fire feels nice and the hot bath I'm getting ready to take will too! Enjoy being home!

Too cute about the "do rag" on Millie. Those little dolls are too sweet.

Sorry about your flop on the cake; I flopped on making pasta this week and threw away the entire batch. Sigh.

Four more days for you to enjoy your holiday...do it up big with lots of cuddles with the girls and grapefruit because that treadmill needs a little time off, too.

Oops, my last comment disappeared as I was typing! Enjoy your lovely home days Pom Pom! Such a happy post! xx

I hope you DO get snow on the foothills, Kim! Yes, looking out my window I SEE the cold. My hands are all dry from the cold, too. I have such housemaid hands!
I can't wait to show you my new books, but I have to wait until the light is right for picture taking.
I'm off to see two little girls this morning.
I am going to leave my bunting tree up for a while because I love the sparkly fairies very much!
Have a great Thursday, sweet friend!

Oh, you'll have the energy when the time comes, MK! Small doses is the key which is entirely different from mothering 24-7.
Yes, no more sweets. Today I am limiting flour and sugar. I am completely filled to the brim with holiday food. No wonder we never get too excited about New Year's treats.
Bill's on the treadmill now while watching the old BBC Narnia series. I love the sound of the actors' little voices.

Pom Pom said...

Hi Ann! Oh, thank you for your kind words!
Yes, Cinderella's fairy godmother AND Aurora's fairies are also available! Cheap! We need them, I think.
It is SUPER nice to be home. I am going to try to avoid the napping today. I wake up feeling sluggish.
The treadmill does take up a lot of room! Our house isn't THAT big!

Debbie, take care of that cold! I hope you sleep again today!
Yes, I DO enjoy being home. It's a feast for my homemaking heart.
I am SO thankful for two weeks off!

Someday you'll be a granny, too! It's FUN!
I can't get enough grapefruit these days. It's so good just now!

Hello PomPom,

How are you doing PomPom...I still have you on my prayer list.
hugs and prayers sweet lady
my daughter-in-love has a bread machine and it has spoiled my son...he wants fresh bread every day and she makes speciality breads for the holidays....you will really enjoy it.

Oh, a lovely Christmas in words and pictures! Thanks so much for sharing - I shall be thinking of you with your bread machine! We have one, but hardly use it now we live in the land of fresh bread.

I love 3 month old babies, esp when my own were that age. Perfection! Your grands are all so cute and I love the way Millie is sitting in the chair. Good luck with the fruit eating. I just had a piece of pie with my breakfast. Sigh.

I am looking forward to trying out the bread machine, Betty! Just now, we don't need any bread, but I'll definitely enjoy the smell and the taste!
I hope you are drinking lots of tea!

Hi Floss! Oh how nice to live in the land of fresh bread! Bill and I don't actually eat a lot of bread, but we do like it!
I haven't tried it yet. Maybe tomorrow.
I hope you had a delightful Christmas!

Pie for breakfast is perfectly lovely, Leslie. I didn't make the pies so no pie to tempt me. The chocolate cake that I like best is still on the counter and I had some for dinner last night. I should just throw it out.
Yes, I saw little LIzzy today and she smiled and smiled. Adorable!
Have a lovely restful holiday week!

Hi Janette! I'll tell Kelli that you like her tables. Sometimes I forget to label the backgrounds as Kelli's house, not ours.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend!
The cookie baking happened at our house, though.

Thank you, Maggie! I am starting to take the decorations down, FINALLY. Instead of putting my hanging fairies in a box, I hung them around the living room. Fairies make a house homey, I think! Yay! Thank you for coming by!
