Harvest Fun and Creative Plans

We had such a nice family time last night.  We went to Brad and April's church harvest festival.  Don't you love April's wig/hat?  She's so beautiful!  I took lots of pictures of her bright and colorful self!  Do you want to make a wig/hat?  You can find the pattern on Knitty.
A hay ride!  Do you see Millie in the front (I mean Cinderella)? She isn't even two years old and she managed to hitch a ride on the wagon after this ride, too.  I guess another kid lifted her up and she was happy to go alone!  Kelli had to stop the tractor!
It's a princess Halloween for Kelli's girls.  The pink poodle skirt girl with her back to the camera is my niece Amy's #2.  They recently moved to Boulder!  Amy's sweet husband Erik is the new pastor at First Pres. Boulder!  Yay for more family in Colorado! Do you see Pastor Brad up on the stage?  He's a cowboy!
 BEAUTIFUL squash and pumpkins!
Here is my sweet niece and her pastor hubby!  There's our beloved son-in-law, Bry!  It was FUN!
Here's our Kelli with Amy!  Cousins!  Look at those smiling eyes!

Sweet Lizzy wants to say hello to you and show you her new trick!  Do you like her tea party outfit?  Snuggly!
Because you are my friend, you can see my ironing pile.  One time a friend at school said, "You wear such bright colors.  I would love to see your closet."  I had to confess that I keep most of my clothes in the ironing basket.  Okay, okay.  I DO like to iron and I shall "stand here ironing" today (remember that story?  Tillie Olsen?  Here's the link).  That's a little literary information for us.
Here's the little workhorse.  I love the pom poms that Mags sent me.  Ribbons.  LOVE.  Do you see the pink polka dot flags? Soon to be bunting for my classroom.
More smashing to be done.  It's so fun!  Such play!
I had this fabric on my classroom walls last year and now I am trying to decide.  Should I make a polka dot tunic or curtains for the laundry room?  Please vote.
Bill bought me two gifts.  The Comfort Cross.  It fits snuggly in my hand and can fit in my pocket.

We aren't Catholic, but the beads above are nice for breath prayers.  I love them.
It's so nice to have a week off from school.  We'll celebrate Jenny's birthday and then we'll leave for Victoria, BC.  I have never been there, so I am looking forward to seeing the water and the other pretty features of a lovely Canadian city.  Yay!
I'm thinking about baking ginger cookies today.  Wouldn't a few cookies taste sweet with a cup of tea poured from the Brown Betty?
Oh, I love the buzz of home.  Don't you?

Hi Pompom - I think spotty curtains for the laundry room would be great. I have just cleaned my oldest boy's room (he is in Spain this week with friends) and am looking at his curtains - they are the same ones he had when he was born 18 years ago!!! do you think maybe he would like something more manly? we get so used to things that feel like home don't we! Have a wonderful time on your travels old friend. Betty x

the prayer cross is really nice. sometimes it helps to have something 'solid' to cling to. :)

Ha ha, Betty! I know that time flies when it comes to decorating and we forget how long we've had things. Thank you for the good travel wishes!

Pom Pom said...

I quite agree, TexWis! The Comfort Cross and the Clinging Cross are both wonderful!

Here you are a busy as a bee with your family, sewing, papers and IRONING!!!! Really? You IRON? I use to, too!!! Now I don't unless I HAVE to...that means it's wrinkled beyond handpressing, throwing in the dryer with a gallon of wrinkle-out stuff. Anyway, this is such a fun post with all your stuff out there for us to enjoy.

I vote curtains for the laundry room or a pair of PJ bottoms....just a thought! Love the Hallowig! I may have to make one...I wonder if I could do it on BONDA...mmmmm!!!

Have a great mini-vacation and enjoy Canada!!!!

Oh, I love that you have more family nearby - isn't that the best! Cousins are such a blessing all around. Well, dear, have a blessed, peaceful, happy vacation with your hubby and bring us back a report of your adventure. I, myself, am not an ironing woman. We've been here 6 months, and my ironing board has yet to come out of the closet it stands in. I avoid it at all costs. You may iron for the two of us - haha!! RE: the polka dots. I don't know. The tunic sounds fun; the curtains sound bright and practical. Which one would you ENJOY the most? Go with that one.

I just made those easy cheese danishes, and I must say, they are GOOD, and very quick. I just made 1/2 recipe with 1 can of rolls. Perfect.

Iron? What's that? ;)
But I'm glad you enjoy it so much. I love the aroma of clothing being ironed, but I usually let the dryer do the work.
Keep enjoying that Smash book. Looks like loads of fun!
I hope British Columbia finishes with its earth tremors before you get there. Have a great trip!
Love those beautiful crosses!

Pom, I like to iron as well; it's peaceful and love having something to show for my hard work after.
The wig is made beautiful by the wearer; it looks like everyone had a wonderful time...wish I could have been there.

Love the pix from the harvest festival--thanks for sharing! I vote for polka dotted curtains for the laundry room. My laundry room has not window, but I might hang some curtains anyway so I can pretend there's a window there. Wouldn't that be nice?

Ha ha, Frances! My laundry room does not have windows either! I want to cover up the dryer hose. I think I need to paint, too. Oh well! The room is tiny and toadstool curtains would be just the ticket! I'm so excited to see the new editions of your books! Yes! Let's SKYPE! I think the kids would LOVE that!

Hi Kim! I will take pictures of Victoria! It supposed to rain a lot, but that won't stop us.
I hope your weather gets cooler and cooler!

Pom Pom said...

Hi Sandra! I wish you could have been there, too! Yes, you're right about ironing. I like the results. It's a task that can't be rushed and that's a good thing! I really want one of those wigs so I think I'll work on one soon!

Pom Pom said...

Oh yes, Debra! I'll pop over to your blog! Thank you for visiting!

Pom Pom said...

I'm glad you like my crosses, Lisa!
You're right about the lovely smell of freshly pressed laundry. Mmmmmm!
Yes, the SMASH book is fun and so easy! Kelli ordered three (hers are bigger) so she can keep ahead of the mementos in a more efficient, less fussy manner. Mine is sort of a free for all. Of course.
I hope you are enjoying your studies!

I wish I had a can of crescents! The rolls look so good! I think the curtains have it. I do need to paint first and I found a color called Mermaid's Tail. The laundry room is tiny with no windows, so I think it can handle some good green!
I will definitely report back to you! I know you will love the city of Victoria! Stay safe, my friend. The wind will be blowing for a while yet, right? Praying.

Pom Pom said...

Hi Sue! Definitely try to do a wig or two on BONDA! They are so cute! Maybe I'll knit a wig while I'm in Canada!
I bet you iron when you sew. Pressing is so satisfying.
I think I'll go with curtains for the laundry room. PJ bottoms are a good idea, too!

Oh, my, such a lot of goodness and happiness in this post. As well as beautiful family and princesses and baby Lizzie.

Now, for the polka dots, CURTAINS, definitely. When is election day closing for the polka dots? Can I vote twice?

Pom Pom said...

I think I shall have polka dot curtains in the laundry room, but moving the washer and dryer so that I can paint is going to be hard. Nancy, you can vote twice if you'll come over and help.

Pom Pom said...

It's true, Ann! Her cheeks are filling out and she is VERY happy! Yay! We're so thankful!

Pom Pom said...

Liz, you've been a fantastic host for the Willows! I have loved every post and I'm happy that they will be back in Denver before too long! Thank you for visiting!

Thank you, Melanie! I am looking forward to it! I'll look for lace while I'm there. I think you would LOVE the city of Victoria!

And I love you, my sweet Ratty! We loved all the fun at the fest! April's smile in amazing and you shall see me in a hat wig soon.

Happy, smiley people! You are so blessed to have all that beautiful family nearby. That rainbow wig/hat is so cute! You are a busy lady. I just finished ironing a pile of hubby's shirts yesterday. I love a fresh-pressed shirt. Sewing sounds fun.

Kim said...

I'm casting my vote for laundry room curtains. How cheery that would be and since we have to spend so much time in there, why not be surrounded in that fun fabric.
That wig hat is so cute. I enjoyed the photos of your fun family time. Little Lizzy is just as cute as she can be and I like her new trick :).

Pom Pom said...

Yay! Hi, Kim! Laundry room curtains win the day. Thanks for coming by!

Pom Pom said...

I DO want to sew, Jody! Life has been way too busy around here! No complaints, though. The Lord is faithful!
I'll be in touch when we get back from Canada!
