May

Hello? How did you find me here?  I thought I was hiding behind the day lilies.
I took this photo last year.  Poppies are in my neighbor's garden, not mine.  I have planted some, but they don't come up.  My mother had a corner plot of poppies in our childhood garden and I love them.  Which reminds me of the poppy field in The Wizard of Oz. Kelli surprised me and swooped me off to see Wicked at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts! I was on the edge of my seat for the entire performance!  Those voices!  The glitz!  The glamor!
Do you see Kelli at the door of the Wendy House?  She's talking to Millie Rose who likes to throw things around in there.  Smile!
Feel free to jump into the saddle of this garden worm!
A gnome solar light!  Lighting up a weed or two!
Joe the Scarecrow has a new job.  He guards Jeff's tomatoes.  (more Wizard of Oz connections!)
There are so many things I'd like to do right now:  play around with poetry, sew a fine seam, work in my art journal, knit another sleeve, scrub the floors, clear off my desk, iron the contents of the overflowing basket, make some sun tea.
Well, it is not to be.  I shall instead wade through all the papers on my desk at school and get as many more glimpses of this year's sweet eleven and twelve year old faces as possible.  Maybe I'll eat lunch with them today.  They like that.
I hope May is treating you well.  The smell of May air is sweet perfume, isn't it?

OH Pom, I adore Wicked! Dave and I saw it in London, England and in Charlotte, NC, USA...it was delightful both times. Someone asked me yesterday if I wanted to take a bus trip to NYC in December. I looked up Wicked and the tickets are SO expensive...not sure I can afford them...sigh...but would LOVE to see it again!

May is good. I love the poppy. Why can't we grow them? I had them at the old house with blooms the size of dinner plates. I even had a pink one, but here at the Garden Spot I can't seem to get them started. I have the same list that you have, but my grading is done now, the students gone for the summer. Now I ponder, should I return in the fall. I'd rather like to work on my list, but then I love my work. What do you think? Ask the gnome or Joe. Perhaps they have wisdom. Have a great day. PomPom.

Yes, I would like to bottle May and have it with me all year--except then it wouldn't be so special, would it?

Lovely pix! Thanks for sharing, Pom!

Gosh those gnomes are taking over! I imagine they go in your wendy house when nobody is looking. Have fun with your school dinner friends. I remember school dinners as a 7 year old, they were on a round table and you had a teacher on each table, they made you eat everything up. My favourite was rice pudding and jam for dessert.

It all looks like so much fun. I love that riding worm guy. I might have to find one of those.

Yep summer is rapidly approaching. I like all of the things you would like to do, Last night, I decided I am close enough to summer vacation, so I broke out Anne of Windy Poplars. Right a way, it felt like summer started and I felt just like I had climbed my favorite tree and was reading away on a summer after noon.
I need to sit down and write a fun summer list. :)
Have a lovely lunch with all of your kids today.

You have such a beautiful big backyard for your grandkiddos to play in. And so many things to discover in every nook and cranny! Enjoy the time you have with your students. That list looks tempting, but it will still be there when summer vacation begins! :D

So many happy and fun things in your yard. The gnome solar light is adorable.
May is a delightful month for sure. I am sure it is a very busy month for school teachers. What a nice thing to eat lunch with the students. I was trying to think if I'd ever had a teacher eat lunch with me as a child ... nope, I think not.

it's funny, i used to have a summer list like that and once i retired i stopped making it . . . not sure that i should have as a lot gets overlooked and forgotten about until suddenly it's just not the season for it anymore.
maybe i'll make myself a summer list today . . .

the smell of may really is incredible at our house. the fruit trees are in bloom and they perfume the whole yard as well as send their fragrance into the house on the breeze . . . mmmmmmmmmm.

have a beautiful week Pom Pom.
breathe deeply of that may air on an evening walk or two.

Your backyard is a wonderful haven, and I love the action shot of little girls running around full of energy. I love May! We were married in May.

What wonderful pictures! I've tried planting Poppies with no success either. I thought they must not like the Alabama heat and humidity.

My school year (subbing/volunteering) is drawing to a close too. I helped in the kindergarten class for a few hours yesterday and then I ate lunch with them (terrible, terrible lunches that school serves!). I plan to go to the kindergarten closing program on Monday. I'll miss my weekly time with those little ones during the summer, but I still have Children's Church!

I hope you have time to sqeeeeeze in a little pleasure for yourself. You deserve it so!

Dear Pom-Pom, I fear I'm going to have to ask for the Willows boys to give me a miss this time! I'm going to be going to the UK at the very beginning of July and I don't think I will have the time to give them the French experience that they deserve. I am sorry to be missing out on the fun, as it seems that everyone is enjoying having the Boys to stay, but all-in-all, I think it best if they went directly from Carolyn at Mess, Muddle and Fun to Floss.

Is that OK? Is there anyone else I shuld contact?

Hi, Pompom, I never had any luck with poppies either. But, I know they do grow here in my neck of the woods. I used to drive by a home that was completely surrounded in them. I always drove by very slowly so I could admire them. Well, your school year is coming to an end. I hope your students realize how fortunate they are. Enjoy your last few days. Sending love to you~Vicki

I'm loving May for the first time in years, that's because the weather has been quiet nice, usually by this month the temperatures are well over a 100 degrees and the humidity is horrible, but this year it's been just warm enough and I didn't get a sinus infection! ^_^ I'm definitely enjoying the Spring.

I love the smell of May too. My poppies are big, but have not yet set blossoms. Soon. The columbine are showing off their beautiful blooms tho!

How I'd love to ride that green garden worm! But alas, I fear he'd be squashed flat if I jumped into the saddle on his back - tee hee!
