Week 4: A Childlike Christmas

Hello childlike friends!  Welcome to week #4 (the final week!) of "A Childlike Christmas"! Hasn't it been lovely?  I think so. Today I present you with some lovely illustrations created by people who (I feel sure of this) LOVE children, just like us!

Jane Dyer is a beautiful illustrator.  The way she draws and paints a bed . . . well, what child would kick up a fuss over bedtime if they lived in these two paintings?
I love the faces in the Norman Rockwell above! The dog!  So cute!

Do you recognize the carolers here?  Richard Scary!  Favorite.
Yes, with visions of sugarplums!  This is a Lisbeth Zwerger.
The Grand Tour is currently progressing in sunny California.  Kim at Oh, For Heaven's Sake has the boys right now.  Stay tuned for a blog post soon.  I love them, don't you?  Badger.  He's a good old badger.

A few weeks ago, we were at a friend's house and they just happen to have this dream puppy.  She is the softest little wiener dog I've ever held.   I am not getting a puppy for Christmas, but for all the children who are . . .  hooray!
Thank you so very much for joining in and giving your attention to all the "Childlike Christmas" bloggers of 2011.  It's been absolutely delightful. I shall raise a mug of hot chocolate to you right now.  I'm off to watch It's a Wonderful Life.
See you soon!  Hop to and fro with my buddies on the sidebar.
(BIG HUG!)
"Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home!"

Lovely ... makes me want to curl up with a puppy dog and a big stack of children's books. I have a collection of them too. I mostly love them for the adorable illustrations. You have introduced me to some new ones here today.

love the illustrations but what totally captured my attention was the photo of the young girl cradling that puppy . . . the puppy clearly felt safe and loved and the girl seemed to be intensely content to see that she could make that happen . . .
the comfort went freely both directions. being held IS good and so is being able to do the holding~!

many happy wishes to you Pom.

Brilliant, lovely pics. I love Its a Wonderful Life, especially that bit where the dance floor splits in two and the dancers fall into the swimming pool underneath. That fascinated me as a child.

It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie!

I love the illustrations you posted. Richard Scarry and The WITW are always favorites.

Have a cozy Christmas at your house, Pom Pom! (and everyone!)

Oh, those illustrations are just wonderful! Wouldn't you love to be able to paint or draw like any one of those artists?

It's been so fun to think and read about the experiences of a childlike Christmas, Pom! Thanks for inviting us into this experience.

Thanks for hosting a Childlike Christmas. I didn't get a post up this week (we had a flood in our basement), but I have thoroughly enjoyed this last few weeks.

Merry Christmas.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas. I was going to post a few pictures from my lovely Laura's Christmas Star book but found I had given it to my neice all the way down in Devon - which is good, she will be inspired and draw lots of stars over Christmas, I am sure. x

How delightful and thoroughly enjoyable! Loved all the pretty pictures as well as the puppy. I'm keeping my friend's three children while they are out of school for the Christmas holidays; I'm exhausted! Each and every parent should get a medal for raising children. Not enough sleep, not enough calories, so much more added work...and that's only my first week! -grin- God help me as I finish out the holidays.

I enjoyed this series! Thank you for posting it every week. I think you would make a great illustrator!

It's funny because I was just saying to Murray last night that I think Mavy needs a doxie for a fur brother. They are so ridiculously cute!!

Blessings!
