The Mothers and the Shepherds

I came upon God's Little Christmas Book while looking for all our Advent stuff.  You'll like this page:

Saint Francis begged his listeners to put anger and hatred and envy out of their hearts and think only thoughts of peace and goodwill.
All listened eagerly while Brother Francis spoke, but the moment he finished, the great crowd broke into singing.  Never before had such glorious hymns nor such glorious shouting been heard in the town of Greccio.
Only the mothers with babes in their arms and the shepherds in their woolly coats looked on silently and thought: "We are in Bethlehem."

 (these are Gumbo Lily's sheep!)
Oh, I love sheep and I am SO happy I am a sheep, cared for by the Good Shepherd.
I like thinking about the mothers holding babies and the shepherds in their woolly coats.  They were the quiet ones.  I want a quiet heart and a quiet mouth today.  Do you?

I agree, I think it would be wonderful to have all of those things for Christmas. I love your pictures today.
Have a lovely weekend my friend.

A quiet heart is wonderful but a quiet mouth is sometimes better. I am amazed at what I can learn when I listen. Great post today. I love the sheep. There is no better visual lesson than sheep and their shepard.

Hi, I'm FarmGirl's daughter. I saw Mom's post about a Childlike Christmas and tracked it back here. What is a Childlike Christmas and how do I participate?

Hooray! Kessie's going to participate, too!

I like sheep too and I'm glad to be a sheep in God's flock. I want a quiet heart and mouth too. Nice post today. Is that snowy picture from your yard? We are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow, I think.
