The Table

Hi Everyone! Did you notice that Pom Pom's Ponderings is outside now? Yes, I thought I'd climb a tree and post from there. Come on up!
Do you like THE TABLE? Isn't it sweet? I am still looking at it and thinking about how much I like it. I have not sat down to eat any porridge yet.

Bill and I went walking last night. This is the Summer of the Long Walk and The Summer of Poems. So far (it's already early evening) there has been no walk today. It's not too late. Take a look at the blooms around our neighborhood! (I'll tell you about the poem stuff later!)

Just when I thought I had come to the end of Gladys Taber (it turns out I just needed a small break), I found this LOVELY addition to my collection. Oh, I am back on the Gladys Taber wagon and I have decided that Stillmeadow is VERY cabin and VERY three bears! Smile!

Because I have many ratty blankets and quilts, I decided to cozy up our cheap plastic patio chairs. Now they are much softer and much better for breakfast birdwatching.

I have one more day of school. I will be busy packing with some helpers that are not going to the theme park (an end of the year celebration for eighth graders) and I hope to get all my boxes taped up and ready.

I moved another table into my Pom Pom office and now I have all my markers and colored pencils at the ready. I am going to make collages and doodle to my hearts content without making a big mess in the living room. I am also ironing all my school clothes and happily putting them in the closet. I am very ready to wear grubby baggy outfits in hopes of getting our house clean and shiny.

Will you sit here and wait for me? I'll be back soon. I shall be free on Tuesday! Bliss! Happiness! Poems!
I love you for playing along! (BIG HUG!)

Pom Pom, I have the *identical* table! with the same original finish, but I recently had mine refinished a little different. My husband ate at the table throughout his childhood! The chairs that came with ours are a bit different.

Pom Pom, I have the *identical* table! It was in my husband's family and he ate his dinner at that table as a child. Then our children all grew up around it (but we were the 7 Bears). It even had the same finish, until I recently refinished it. Our chairs are just a little different. I love that table and hope one of my children will want to inherit it....

So that's a three bears table! well I have one a little like this, only old and tatty after 17 years of porridge and bleaching and scrubbing and spilling paint and ink on it! so I think I am with you on the three bears theme - and on the spring cleaning - I scrubbed all my white rugs last week and left in the sun to dry - they smell woolly. When I was a kid my mum used to pretend the queen was visiting for tea so we would all clean the place - let's pretend the three bears are coming and make everything cosy for them - lead the way PomPom!

I love the thought of your end of the school year "nesting." It sounds as if you are tucking the school year into the closet, and pulling out Summer. I can picture you hanging Summer on the clothesline for sunshine and some fresh air before it gets into full swing. :)

Your summer of long walks and poetry sounds idyllic and lovely. Can you hear my inner child chanting, "Take me! Take me!"?

I love that it is a drop-leaf table! Those are my favorite -- they fold up into nothing, but open graciously to feed a crowd when needed. I love the style of the chairs too.

Looking forward to your summer of poems. Also -- tell us more about that book. I've never heard of that author. What does she write? Why do you like it?

Well, my goodness, when you said it was a three bears table, I thought, it must be quaint and lovely- but it is is THE three bears table and chairs! So perfect for Pomland. I'm just snuggling in now, have enough marking to do until Tuesday, and I might even have the kettle on for when you get home!!

Hi Pom, I love your new woodsy blog look and your so homey and sweet new table and chairs. And your quilty chair looks so cosy too -- for birdwatching, reading & drinking iced tea on the back porch.
Happy end of term to you Little House Mouse!! (and you know I mean that in a good way ;)!

I love your table! It's perfect! And I like the idea of all your school clothes ironed and locked away so that you can be comfortable and write poems and draw and journal. Happy summer, Pom Pom!

I can just see all your sweet grandchildren sitting at that little table playing tea party. My irises and pansies are long gone. Thanks to your pretty flower pictures, I get to enjoy them again. Unfortunately, we just can't grow peonies down here. It's much too hot. I can't believe all the buds on yours. Have a relaxed and blissful summer!

This is a fun tree fort we're in!

I really love the style of your new kitchen table and chairs. Good, good choice.

I enjoyed the walk amongst the flowers. Aren't the columbines your state flower? So pretty and so vigorous.

By now you are probably into your Summer Mode. So happy for you. I like the cozy summer deck chairs.

P.S.
Have you read the Gladys Taber book that she read about her father? I think it is called "Especially Father" and it's a really good one. I laughed a lot through that book.

Happy Reading.

I love the little table and chair set. It does look like a cheery place to have porridge or a grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of soup. Or even a cup of tea with a friend.
I also love the little yellow mushroom in amongst all your pretty flowers.
