School's Out for Summer!

There you are! Thank you for waiting for me. My feet are blistered from all the packing and tromping up and down the stairs in dumb (shocker) shoes. Drat. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to rest them and watch a few seasons of Lark Rise to Candleford.
Maybe after that I'll watch Sense and Sensibility. Why not have an Emma Thompson film festival and watch Much Ado About Nothing, too? Okay, that's all sorted. (I love it when my UK friends say that!)

A watched pot never boils, right? Still waiting for this year's peonies to pop.

I did a big clean last summer in preparation for a bunch of kids from Hawaii. I've noticed that the dining room DOES NOT look pristine any longer. Time to clear and toss and move stuff!

My sweet neighbor is in Florida. Weep. We had such fun going to the garden center last year. I hope they have a fine selection of gnomes this year, too.

Our anniversary is Thursday! Bill brought early sunflowers.

Now, I found three pretty images (children's book illustrations). What do you think? Don't you love the cozy fire and the dog taking a snooze?

Gigi said I'm a house mouse. I am! I would not be surprised if I look in the mirror tomorrow and see some whiskers!

It takes a few days for the summer feeling to really sink in. I'm still deprogramming a bit. However, the bird feeders are full and ready for tomorrow morning. I looked at some big and bright swimsuits online and I'm thinking about ordering one.
This is The Summer of the Long Walk so I must heal these blisters and get out on the road.

As soon as I hear some quiet, I will write a poem and make that apron.
We'll talk again soon.

I hear whiskers happen the older we get. Yikes! (One older friend told me the best place to check for whiskers is in the car mirror because of all the sunlight. Not really a tip I want to need.)

Yay for school being out and for restful days ahead! I hope you like the salad dressing! We ran out of strawberries so have been having pears and blueberries on our greens. I want to find a recipe to make my own sometime soon.

I've decided that if we ever get crazy rich I am going to buy paintings that have dogs somewhere in them. Not pictures of dogs, but just pictures that have dogs in them. (There *is* a difference. No poker playing dogs for me.)

Have a lovely day!

As usual, your post is a feast for the eyes and the mind!
When I first saw the words, "School's out for summer", I couldn't help hearing Alice Cooper singing in the background! :)
The tree in your header picture is just awesome. Is it in your yard?
I've been looking at sunflower pictures, trying to find a good one for drawing practice. I think I like yours best!
The idea of an Emma Thompson film festival is a good one! My son, Jordan, bought me a copy of Sense and Sensibility a while back and I've watched it quite a few times. Can I find Lark Rise to Candleford and Much Ado About Nothing on YouTube?
I LOVE the children's books illustration of the fireplace! What book is it from?
Thanks for another fun post! Have a great summer! :)

So glad you are out of jail!! haha :) I'm amazed it only takes you a few days to "deprogram." It used to take me almost all of June to recover, before I could really sink into summer.

The last picture is by Garth Williams, right? I love the story "Bad Mousie" that he illustrated. Have you read it? I like the middle one best :)

MK! I love Garth Williams. I can't get enough of his work. I'll have to find Bad Mousie. Does it surprise you that that title appeals to me? Smile. Smile. Smile.
