Pep Talk

I hope you find time to scribble a bit today. I mean on a real paper surface with a gliding pen. Do you save your old journals? Maybe you could lift a sentence or two from your former life and create a current passage. What would you say? Could you draw something? Color in? Place some stickers on one of your pages?

Somehow, I AM going to sew myself that "security apron" I've talked about. What inspiration do I need? Can you give me a small pep talk? This mouse needs a cup of tea and a push!
Enjoy this glorious day in the month of May!
It's here!
It's here!
That lusty time of year!
I'm glad you popped by. Don't forget the apron pep talk! There might be a snail mail treat in store for the best and most motivating comment!
LOVE!

Each moment and each stitch of the making of your special apron will be woven into it. Whenever you wear it, you will feel that sense of achievement, as well as the wrap-around comfort and pleasure that only a tailor-made, home-sewn apron can bring. Your grandbabies will remember hugging into you while you wear it, the soft feel of it, the colour and pattern of it and the cuddly Grandma inside it! :)

Go for it Pom Pom, start choosing fabric! :) xxx

There is a great quote: "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present". How will you spend your minitues today knowing they are a GIFT? Hope you have a happy day no matter what you choose to do. Thank you for visiting my blog. You have a very lovely blog!

You could use scraps of materials from various articles of clothing that hold a sentimental value (i.e. your kids' old shirts that you may have saved, something from you childhood, something that makes you think of Bill, etc) and piece them together to make an apron.

Wow, I love April's idea! :)

I'm teaching a two-week summer writing course right now so writing is all on my brain. =)

Go, girl, go - sew, girl, sew! [I think someone should write a Dr Seuss style book about apron construction!]
I got out my lovely fountain pen and wrote a thank you card to a friend. It was such a delight to do that.
Have a lovely day PP - blessings xx

Oh yes Pompom, you must make yourself that apron - when you put your apron on you will feel all mother hen, that apron will get finger marks from little people who love hugging you and you won't want to ever wash it! Hope you make one with fairy tale scribbles on - your little sketches of flowers and scribbles and notes in the margins of books are good - you could use indelible ink pens and sketch and scribble away on your pretty apron! Find a pretty pattern that makes your heart sing. The ask a grandchild to help you choose the colours/fabric. Maybe they could help you make it...a very special apron!

what a cute mouse with teacup picture~!

i don't know if i have a pep talk for you Pom Pom . . . but i do know that some hot green chai tea with a bit of honey and almond milk always gives me a lift.

i have a friend who weaves and she makes the most awesome aprons from her handwoven goods. i sometimes hate to think of using mine and getting it dirty or stained up but they wash and wear incredibly well. she has one that she made for herself over 20 years ago and even with lots of daily use it still looks fabulous.

A little story from my memory to motivate you to sew your apron..... The kids were coming home for a holiday (Mother's Day, I think) and Grace told me she wanted a picture of her mom in her apron. She had told a friend that her mom wore aprons a lot and her friend thought that was so wonderful and wanted to see. Of course, when Grace walked in the door, I was busy preparing the family meal in my apron. Click! Photo memory. And click, precious heart memory for me.

Depending on the style of apron you choose, you could easily have it whipped up in half an hour to one hour! Yes! You! Can!

Happy Stitching,
Jody

Family aprons -- there's no garment so closely tied to motherhood, is there? Years ago, when my girls were little, I made 3 aprons: one for me, a little one for Anna, and a tiny one for Julia. They still have them. I designed them myself, with a large ruffle at the bottom of the full-length skirt, one side pocket, and a bib. Mine now has a large hole. We've worn and worn them.

I don't know how many granddaughters you have, but maybe you should consider making them aprons, and one for yourself, to match. Go shopping at a fun fabric store, and choose a fabric that matches each one's personality. They will treasure them, I promise!

Dear Pom Pom, I love this idea of a security apron! You could put a few extra pockets in for poems and books and letters from friends. That way when you put it on you will be wrapping yourself with love and inspiration! What could be better? Can't wait to see it!

Oh, Pom Pom, I know your apron will be so special. I love M. K.'s idea of you and your granddaughters all having matching aprons. How fun to bake cookies together as they grow up! Go Pom Pom, go ~ you can do it! It will be a blessing just like you!

Blessings friend,

Ooh is that Appely Dapply a little brown mouse? Goes to the cupboard in somebody's house! Pockets, yes pockets for saving things & fun stuff. Have we been making aprons too pretty do you think? When I read all the comments & reflections I realize that aprons create memories...of fun & security! I guess they were designed to keep your clothes clean & to help in running a home. An apron of honour ha ha. Have fun : ) Much love Catherine x0x0x0

Hi Pom, I know you can make that apron -- you're so creative and talented! Do you have a sewing nook where you can leave all your crafty things out? I don't, and I think that's part of the reason I don't sew more -- the getting it all out, the mess, and the putting it all up again -- blah! Do you have that problem too? So anyhoo, I think I'm going to make myself a little crafty nook where I can sew and draw and paint and things -- the only problem is what to do with all the 'stuff' that's currently living in my dream 'studio'? Yesterday, I bought a rotary cutter and cutting mat in preparation for beginning the quilt I've been wanting to make for a couple of years now. Wonder how long it will take me to get to the next step ;)? I bet you'll have 12 aprons finished by the time I start my little (big) project?
Hearts,
GG
