Crabby Face

Yesterday, I did two things I like to do when I have free time and I realize that my free time is sliding through the hourglass. I visited an antique mall and I went to a movie. The antique booths are always fascinating. I kept trying to shake off the dark little voice that likes to say, "You should buy that! It won't be here when you come back AND you don't ever come back!" I heard the little voice when I looked at a child's table and chair, four Dansk bowls, five hand knit Nordic sweaters, a very old and charming book stand, and a worn book or two. Purchases: none. Why? I needed money for the movie and a big bag of popcorn. The movie? Ramona and Beezus. Oh, Beverly Cleary, I love your way with words and the manner in which you tell stories. Hollywood displayed your tales okay, but they are no match for you.
I did think the cast was strong (except for the dad) and the sets were pretty. The little Quimby bungalow looked ultra homey and I like homey.

I have a real crabby feeling in my stomach and I'm not completely sure why. I think I had better keep my crabby self away from others. I'll try not to pop a hole in your happy balloon!

The painted wall is more gold than butter yellow, but my 1970's self likes it anyway!

We have six travelers stopping here to sleep tomorrow night and when I was looking around for "tidy spots" in the house this morning, I realized that a cleaning day is in order.

There will be leftover soup for lunch and a trip to the grocery store before dinner.

My plan: 1. Jump on the exercise bike and listen to soft piano music while I peddle 2. Actually work with my hair a bit today instead of letting it dry all wacky so that every time I look in the mirror I don't sigh 3. Sit out in the sun for a while and smell, hear and FEEL summer. Do you think this might chase the crabs away?

Hi crabby! Ive been floating round the pool, reading Simple Abundance, eating mango, spending time with family and some repair men who appreciate a cold drink - they were repairing some minor stuff we noticed at the villa we are renting such as broken vacuum, chipped pool tile (I like to do my housework even on holiday!. I finally found a post office yesterday and your mail should come by Saturday or Monday and cheer you a bit - I hope you will take a strawberry milkshake out to the garden and read with a big shady hat on like I have been! Love - Betty xxx funny my comment aproval word was 'comsta' which I believe is Italian for 'how are you'!

Pom Pom, I LOVE the color of your newly painted walls! (But I like golds) It's really lovely with your things against the wall.

Yes, I think sitting in the sun and soaking in some fresh air and flower beauty will be just the thing for crabbiness. Going for a walk helps me a ton.

Isn't it good that company comes once in awhile so we can clean out those places that we let go a little too long? Enjoy those people.

Only option 3- why on earth would you even contemplate 1 and 2?! Will this movie come to us? I fear not. The deprivation. I'll have to find the stories instead. We saw Toy Story 3 this week, and it was just an excuse to have a 3D Toy Story, I thought, with not even particularly outgrabbing 3D sequences. Wish I'd come with you instead! Crabby, crabby, go away, come again another day. To someone else...

Your mood has probably lifted by now, but sometimes I feel out of sorts like that and it is an effort to change my stinkin' thinkin'. Sunshine always helps!

I love your wall color. It is very soothing. My house is painted a lot of creamy golds so I am partial to it. It is like bringing the much needed sunshine indoors.

Beverly Cleary is about my favorite writer, and I don't think I can stand to see the new movie. The actress who plays Beezus is much too pretty and hip-looking. She won't be right.

I like your wall! I think the paint is very pretty.

I have the same thought about my hair. Need a cut, and how!
