A Poet's Happy Words and Loads of Peonies

Jeff majored in English at University of Hawaii (big, happy English teacher smile) but we have never discussed Wendell Berry. Yesterday afternoon, I noticed he'd written these lovely lines on the kitchen white board. Words really are a gift to the heart. I experience a heart surge when I read them. This quote will stay a while.

It's been raining here for three days and the earth is so thankful. When Bill mowed the lawn yesterday, he noticed the drooping peony bushes. Time to clip! Around every corner of our house = peonies!

Up early this morning for coffee talk with Bill. Once again, the morning is so welcoming! The sky gives a fleeting show of pink and the dew is kissing the front garden.

Life looks good, smells good, and IS good. Thank you for popping by for a visit. I wish you a kind and happy day.

Beautiful pictures! What a beautiful sky to wake up to and enjoy a cup of (coffee) tea to start the day.

I like the rain too, Pom Pom, what a beautiful garden you have - very English too. I love peonies although I never tried to grow them. I thought the poetry on your white board was a lovely thing to do - what a thoughtful son. I have had a stressy day with builders laying more sewerage and car repair people letting me down so am feeling it is time for a sit down in my little garden (much smaller than yours I think). Trying very hard to think good thoughts and not feel angry as that just makes things worse!Betty x

What amazing paeonies those are. They must be very happy in your garden. They can be quite capricious and just refuse to flower if they aren't in a place that they like!

My peonies are done. I wish they lasted longer than they do. I love the pictures of your garden flowers at night... so pretty. Nothing like a fresh cup of java in the morning.
Blessings~

Oh for the love of peonies. I can't wait for mine to pop. Yours are so lovely and the smell is "over the moon," isn't it?

Happy new day.

What a great quote! Berries have been on sale lately...sure wish I had been able to hand picked them. And I love the peonies. We do not see them so much around here which is a real shame.

i can't imagin many things better than so many peonies that the bushes must be trimmed and the house filled with vases of long stems of fabulous, frilly, sweet smelling flowers~!!~
my peonies are still tight little buds and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many of them this year . . . maybe i'm just being impatient. i'm glad that you've shared your beautiful crop with all of us~!

sounds like a delightful beginning to your summer vacation.

Thank you for your sweet "missing you" comment! I'll try not to stay away too long. I must be having a flashback to teaching days ~ it's as if I am in a state of deep letting-go, trying to recover from all my teaching years at once!! I just scrolled down your lovely blog and you have obviously hit the summer months running! I'm okay, really. I'm writing in my journal for the first time since I threw them all away two years ago. I'm writing lots of sheer nonsense, just seeing where it will take me. Enjoy your summer vacation!! Oh, I know how precious every single minute is. Enjoy! Enjoy!! xo Kari

What a feast for the senses this post is, Dear Friend! As soon as I enjoy my morning cup of coffee, I am going to go out and pick lush red berries from the garden.

Blessings!
