Drowsy Day

It's Thursday and Thursdays are looooooooong. I have an early morning meeting and then newspaper club after school. And it's still winter.

I sort of wish I could stay home today, behind my fairy door, comfy in my downy bed.

I'd read The Long Winter again and drink tea. No, instead I'll go to a noisy place and guide sweet fourteen year old darlings through their literature circle discussions. I'll eat lunch in a sterile teachers lounge and spend an hour with funny sixth grade boys trying to put together our school newspaper. I'll come home to quiet . . . maybe.

I'll welcome the weekend. I hope you have a sweet ride on the downward slide to Friday. Maybe you'll get a hug from a puppy or a sweet bite of chocolate - I hope you DO! I feel sure you'll do something extra nice for someone else. Maybe someone will do something very nice for you!

I leave you with a funny quote about writers. Why don't you click on my sidebar (writing prompts) and journal just a little? You could start with Emily Dickinson's "Bring me the sunset in a cup . . ."

"Writers are a little below clowns and a little above trained seals." ~ John Steinbeck

I hope your Thursday is not so l-o-n-g and the day passes quickly. You can then enjoy your cup of tea.
It is deary (cloudy with a chance of rain) here in TX. So I am sitting here sipping tea and reading.

I hope your Thursday turns out to be a good one. I can't believe how early you posted this entry!

I believe the Steinbeck quote to be one of the truer things I've read lately ...

Have a great weekend!

I love the music on your page! I've been meaning to tell you, but only now finally remembered. :D

I think you very brave for walking away from your cozy downy bed and peaceful quiet for the sake of fostering the lives of young folks. Hooray to you! And with any luck, you will come home to some peace and quiet as a reward for your good deeds. ;)

We're reading the same book and drinking the same tea in the evenings. Sweet.

We have so much in common! The Long Winter is my favorite of The Little House Books. I have read it many times, and I didn't discover these books until I started teaching. I don't know how I missed them when I was young. I would have loved them all so much. I read The Boxcar Children over and over when I was nine. And I love that Sleepytime tea, too. There are your bears, again, on the package, in a cozy "three bears" cottage. I hope you get to spend the whole weekend with your feet up, in front of a fire, with the sunset, and the moon and the stars, in your cup! xo Kari

Hope you made it through the day and back home to your book and cup of tea! It's that time of year and Mother Nature sure isn't cooperating to get this weather cleared up for us to get an early start on Spring! Just think...it won't be long til Spring Break! Yay!!! and tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend...Double Yay!
