Bliss

Joy! Singing! Don't you want to absorb every Christmas note this year? I do!

Our artificial tree looked great the first year, okay the second year, and now I fear I'll have to do a lot of bending and fluffing to make it look its best this year. Oh well!

"Christmas--that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance--a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved." ~Augusta E. Rundel
"God bless, Christmas!" ~ Charles Dickens
Favorite Christmas things:
the smell of pine
candles lit in the evening, especially the Advent candle ring
music (Wine Country Christmas is a favorite)
the Christmas troll dolls I bought for the kids! I found them at the grocery store years ago!
lighted garlands (mine are so old, but still so happy!)
Christmas coffee mugs (Hartstone - one of my favorite pottery companies)
luminaries - lit on Christmas eve, lining the driveway, quiet and a powerful showing of LIGHT
Mary's prayer (Luke 1:46-55)

Tina (a blog friend from Scotland) made this darling hat and Samantha Rose wore it home from the hospital.

See that warm smile on Jenny's face? Ah, motherhood. The sweetest privilege.

I've been at their house, reveling in the baby atmosphere. She smells so sweet. Jenny's a natural mom. I'm in awe of the miracle of life all over again.

I miss reading and writing, but look forward to a good deal of journaling and meditation in the sacred weeks to come. I hope you are feeling the miraculous anticipation of the season.

What a nice post; it really begins to kindle the Christmas spirit in my heart.

You were kind enough to comment on my blog, either late last night or early this morning and when I went to read and post your comment, it vanished! If you care to come back and comment again, I'd love to read what you had to say!

Also, did you notice I added a link to another poem by the same poet on my Thursday post. I thought you would enjoy it.

hugs and warm wishes for a truly happy day!

I disguise my sadly thinning tree by hanging even more decorations on it each year.

What a beautiful baby! I love Christmas and winter in general. We used to use empty plastic milk jugs - the gallon size. We'd put sand in the bottom and a candle and line the driveway and along the front of the property along the highway. They looked quite tacky during the day but at night - when lit - they were gorgeous. We'd use sometimes as many as 50 or more. They looked like glowing lanterns. Just beautiful!

Beautiful babies. Our artificial tree was thrown out 8 years ago when we moved. It was definitely a Charlie Brown tree. We bought a newer one and it's so much better. Our oldest son has a family tradition in his home. They always purchase a real tree that looks just like Charlie Browns. It's too cute!!

I love this season too. Hope you have many wonderful days during the coming month, filled with joy, peace, laughter and family. Hugs dear friend.

Mmmm...lit candles and the smell of pine...two of the best things of the season! I also love Christmas movies. I'm watching Prancer now. :D

Hi Pom Pom! I just listened to your message about the baby- nipple shields can be helpful, but should be used while working with a Lactation Consultant or La Leche Leader. Sore nipples can be a symptom of a latch that isn't quite right, tongue tie or thrush. If you google "breastfeeding asymmetrical latch" you will find some great info. Try this link: http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/newman.shtml Resolving the latch issue should make the pain go away very quickly. She could also call her dr or midwife for a prescription for APNO which stands for All Purpose Nipple Ointment. It is safe to use while nursing and goes a long way toward helping nipples heal. Do encourage her to be seen by an LC or LLL leader- it can make a world of difference.

It was so nice to hear your voice on my phone! It was a treat and it warmed by heart. Good luck!

As I was arranging our artificial tree today, another small branch broke. I stuck it back in the tree and hope it stays there until January :o).

Baby Samantha is so beautiful!! All four of mine had dark heads of hair like hers. What a sweet joy to snuggle a new wee one.

Your post made me feel warm all over and truly anticipating the joys of Christmas.

Have a wonderfully blessed weekend, dear Pom Pom!
